I am looking for a laptop with the following qualifications:
P3 800 mhz or faster
XGA (1024x768) resolution or better
512 or more MB of ram
working battery
AC adapter
I'm in the market, anyone getting rid of a 3 year old laptop? :)

You should at least say the price:)

wouldn't that depend on what the seller has to offer and wants for their laptop?

Not sure about the specs. :D
Make an offer...

It all depends on what kind of laptop it is... Let's just say "fair market value"?

I've actually come up with a new idea...
"trade me your old laptop".
I would be willing to trade my P4 2.66ghz 1gb ram, 128mb radeon 9000, CD burner, DVD, 1600x1200 native res 17" screen laptop for another, smaller laptop. If you're interested, PM me. It's a "desktop replacement" machine to be sure, but it screams.

Isn't Compaq or someone coming out with like a $100 laptop? Okay - I can't remember any of the details but a couple of companies are putting out some really cheap laptops.

that was for part of a third-world project and they're gonna be $150. the screens are smaller and as a whole they're very limited ... they're just to start bridging the digital divide. because that's what some third world, starving kid will want -- downloadable pictures of Lindsey Lohan.
can't we send the kids a porkchop instead?

No - it was part of an article about computer prices - I'll try to remember where I saw it.

nice. of course, it's not a laptop for $99 unless you sign up for Vonage.
but my part is true, too. :)

Because I would give the traded (smaller) laptop to my wife for web browsing, DVD watching, etc... and then get myself a nice shiny new one for Christmas :)
