It also mentions that the next world cup will be in South America. We'll see if Brazil can get their stadiums in order, otherwise look for Chile/Argentina to submit a joint bid. This may unlock a future Copa America for Mexico.

It looks like FIFA desperately wants the african teams to have a good showing, ergo the extra spot.

I don't think Mexico will have any difficulty qualifying, but I do think that Mexico will not earn a group seed, considering that SA will be seeded as hosts. But you never know.

The only other South American country that might bid is Colombia.

All the other feds voted that they want Brazil to host the WC in 2014.

not the 1st time in history that CONCACAF has had to fight a spot with CONMEBOL. During the 1962 World Cup qualifiers, Mexico was forced to play a playoff series with one of CONMEBOL's members.

There is a reason I say forced is because without notice, our young confederation was told that the WCQ winner would have to play against Paraguay.

That was totally unfair because Paraguay did not have to play any sort of qualifying matches within their own confederation to deserve to play a playoff series against CONCACAF.

the truth of the matter is that the Chilean WCOC wanted to have more South American teams in their own WC.
