Werder Bremen
Benfica
Shakhtar Donetsk
AEK Athens
CSKA Moscow
Spartak Moscow  over Sporting!
Girondins Bordeaux
Steaua Bucharest

Do you figure one of these teams to win the competition. I think Werder and Benfica have outstanding chances, as well as the Moscow clubs and Bucharest.

Teams that finish 2nd in the Uefa Cup group stages plays a team that drops down from the champions league.

Hopefully we won't lose to Dinamo so we don't play one of those teams

Werder Bremen
CSKA Moscow
AEK Athens

some strong teams.

My bet is on Werder Bremen to win the Uefa Cup, strongest team left in my opinion.

I think Werder vs. Tottenham or Werder vs. Benfica are the two most likeliest scenarios.

But anything can happen. It's a very unpredictable competition still.

All I can assume is that Werder Bremen will be playing somebody

Don't write off Spuds or Newcastle, or even Blackburn if they get their act together.

You should not write off Sevilla, The are possibley the 3rd best in Spain at the moment. They beat Barcelona convincingly. i certainly rate them higher then Tottenham and maybe even possibley Benfica at the moment.

Obviously I'm a Benfica fan, but Benfica has a very good team and I believe they have very good chances at winning the UEFA Cup this season.

Forca Benfica!!!

Any team that can hold Lyon to two goals in two matches is a force to be reckoned with. Steaua for the semifinals, if not better.

A lot of good teams in the UEFA-cup last 32. It's very unpredictable, and that's what I like about the UEFA-cup. Every year you see other teams in the QF's.

There are many good teams this year.

In my opinion, the favourites are Werder, Sevilla, Benfica, CSKA and Steaua.

Yep, and remember last year Steaua were in the final until their complete and utter implosion in the 2nd half at the Riverside.

Please don't remind me of that match...I almost cried when Macarone scored.
However, this is year apparently Werder are favourites, but things are different, the motivation isn't the same as in CL (for example, last year, Betis had very good games in CL, beating Chelsea, and Steaua blasted them).

As for Steaua, I'm really afraid of smaller teams(our team appears to have problems lately when playing with smaller teams). And except we meet Werder(would be a vrey tight match), I think that with some concentration Steaua can reach the final.

Does anybody think that if the bundesliga remains as tight as it is right now that werder bremen will risk losing it by playing its best team in the uefa cup. Id much rather win the bundesliga that the uefa cup. heck id rather finish 3rd in the bundesliga then win the uefa cup

Werder Bremen has to be the favourite, followed by Sevilla and Benfica!

Thomas Schaaf is no friend of rotations. He will always field the best eleven he's got. But it is right that there is a menace that Werder could take some matches not seriously enough...

I understand the stigma attached to the UEFA Cup but a European trophy for a German team would be great for German football and its diminished reputation.
