Does espn have a 3rd team that we just never get here in the states? On espn+ and espn deportes also showed kviv v real live today. I know those are spanish and portugues channels but I wouldnt be surprised if espn+ put out an english audio track? I'm thinking they have floating people for the 3rd game??

Funny story here.
I was in Ireland a few weeks ago, visiting family in a town called Drogheda.
Whilst out in the town one day, I happen across an Irish paper called the Drogheda Independant.
I bought it and after a while came to the entertainment piece.
Wouldn't you know it, there in full colour, was a picture of Tommy Smyth in this small edition, local paper.
It was a piece celebrating famous Louth (the Irish county Droghdea is located in) people.Apparently, Smyth was born there.
I had my Sister with me and she looked at me quite funny when I started exploding in laughter.
The piece had a little history on him, ending with a line about him being one of the best known and knowledgable announces in America.
I cracked up in tears laughing!

Rae and Malin would be a dream US commentary team.

Tommy Smyth has a great voice and I'm used to his as well for big Euro games. But as my friend says, it's like he was the only Irish guy they could find to broadcast football games. Just stick any Irish guy in there to talk the talk ... his analysis can be a bit shaky.

Smyth is a horrible commentator, and his voice sounds like razor blades cutting through wrists onto a chalk board.
Derek Rae is class, it's great when Smyth is out for some reason (sick I guess) and Seamus pairs with him :)

I am from Drogheda ,what part were you in maybe I know your family. Maybe you should also learn that Drogheda is not a county. Did you know they have a very good soccer team there. Maybe you were only dreaming that you were there.
Another fact Tommy Smyth is not from Drogheda check out his bio if you dont believe me about it. If he is not well know in the US why would you be writing about him on this thread,I missed your point I guess.

The original post from Clan said: "It was a piece celebrating famous Louth (the Irish county Drogheda is located in) people. Apparently, Smyth was born there.
It seems Clan already covered that information (Louth being the county, Smyth being from County Louth) in his original post. Thank you for playing.

As has been pointed out - I think you need to re-read what I wrote...;)
Yes, indeed I was in Drogheda, my Brother lives on Fair street, up the hill (forget the name of that street) on the left side.
I was amazed at the changes though, it had been nearly 20 years since I was there last.
The new town center, opposite that big Church (St peters) wasn't even there when i was there last..nor was that new bridge behind it on that back street, down the steps and out past the ice cream stall on the right, just inside the door.
My parents have lived in Ireland for over 30 years now, out in Julianstown.
Drop me a PM if you wish, maybe you do indeed know me, or of them.
