I was wondering what type of amateur leagues there are in Atlanta. I am thinking about playing this summer and was wondering where are the best places to play. I've heard of the ADASL(I think thats it) and I know there are some under the Silverbacks organization. Are there any in the South Metro area? What are the costs like, practice, games? THANKS

Varies from team to team. I play ADASL Div.1 and we pay $200 a year for club dues and practice once a week. There are also various 7v7 leagues (one of which is at Silverbacks Park) and a Caribbean League, and numerous hispanic leagues. I'm no sure about South Atlanta, but I know that Cobb has it own league and Gwinettdoes too so I wouldn't be surprised if there was one in Rockdale or Fayette.

I have been in Atlanta for the past 6 years and I have finally decided to look for a soccer league to join. Any idea of what leagues exist in the city? I live close to downtown and don't venture out too far too often. I found the ADASL website, but couldn't tell if they took open registrations, and it looks like they play most of their games outside the city.
Any ideas where to look?
Thanks,
jeff

You'll have to contact the individual team managers for specifics about trying out and where they play. I know a few teams play their games in Decatur and a few used to play at Piedmont Park but I'm not sure if they will play there again or not now that the soccer fields appear to be open.

I can't speak about anything specifically south of Atlanta. The only leagues I know of that are only in the city limits are at Silverbacks Park. There is 7v7 on Wednesdays and 11v11 on Saturdays.
Along with ADASL, GEMESA, a hispanic league playing on fields from Norcross to Marietta, is probably the best league in terms of competition...which is mainly because they have substantial money prizes.

I'd like to either get in on, or help start, a 5-6 a side league somewhere. I live in Marietta (just off the square), and I've been out of the loop for so long that I know of hardly anybody who even plays. Something small sided, that doesn't take all night to play (maybe two 15-20 minute halves) would work very nicely with me. I've even thought about rules and everything.

I wish I had more information on this for you, but I know there is a group out of East Atlanta attempting to start a league (both soccer and flag football). There are signs up around Grant Park so next time I go out walking I will get the number and try to remember to post it up here for you guys.

That would be great, that is the exact area that I am looking for. I will look around the park as well for the signs. Thanks so much!

Since I posted I haven't seen the signs anymore. There was one on the light pole at CVS. Who knows what happened.
Until we figure that out, I wanted to tell you that if you're interested in just passing time with pick-up games, on the weekends between 4 - 6 pm at Toomer Elementary in East Atl. a pretty good group gets together.

I'm playing up at Silverbacks Park now and having a blast. Worth the travel distant.

I guess I should just apply as an individual and see if I can hook up w/ a team that needs some bodies...

Wolf's, in Marietta. They don't use boards. They have a website as well.

Soccer Centre in Fayetteville. I played in the Adult league before I headed off to UGA in 2005. Pretty nice facility. Here's the link: http://www.georgiaindoorsoccercentre.com/index.php

I live in Fayetteville and played for years there from the time the soccer center opened up on South Metro Lightning teams (now AFC Lightning)
I've been thinking of trying to find an over 30 team to get on. The last time I inquired they were in the middle of a season. I would rather not play against 18 year olds in the U-30 league as I'm terribly out of shape but would consider that also.
Send me a PM if anybody is thinking of organizing a team for their adult leagues or if anybody is planning on trying to join up with a team at the soccer center.

Anyone playing at Silverbacks park this summer?

I'm interested in an over-30 team -- it looks like leagues start in mid-August.

Coincidentally, I just heard from the league.
I had faxed them my application to join the league as a player, about two months ago. I received an email today stating that they are getting teams together for the next season, and wondering if I was still interested in joining a team.
So, if you are interested, you should go to that site, and fax in the application soon.

Reignking,
I play year-round at Silverbacks park on a club from Gainesville that has 2 teams (GFC). One is in D3, and the other in D4 of the 7v7 league (Wed. Nights). We are likely to have a few spots open next season. It's not over-30, but it's not super-fast either. Let me know if you're interested and/or come by and see some of the games one Wednesday night.

I just saw this thread. I haven't played soccer in a good while and my feet are itching :D I'm out of shape though.
Anything open? Suggestions? I'm 22, btw.
