Sunday Times article stating Henry is out until the New Year.

Anyone know if Henry's injury is enough to keep him out of the Chelsea game and the next few games in December?

Seems unlikely. Henry claims he's ready to play now. How can Wenger suggest he won't play for a month?

I think this is just shenanigans.

Henry also claims he hasn't been fully fit/sharp all season.

I don't think there is any chance he'll be back for Chelsea, i'm guessing he'll be out for about three weeks and should be back for the Holiday fixtures.

Chelsea is the one game he MUST play in. If he was declaring himself fit for the Spuds, and got moody over not playing, then with the enforced rest against Porto, we need him next Sunday if we are to stand ANY chance of making a comeback in the EPL, which is not impossible until the maths tells you it is! :)

Thierry Henry was able to play yesterday and could play next week, although all this could be mindgames for the Chelsea game next week, thats a wild thought I know:D

Henry has admitted he's not fully fit. And the team has proven they can win without him. He needs a few weeks off to heal, if he's not 100% he won't be much help anyway. I'd rather see him miss this game and come back strong when he's fully recovered.

Well a 3-0 win against Spuds and a 1-0 win against Manure suggests that we don't NEED Henry, although I would much prefer to have him rather than not.

Clearly, with all the comments Henry has made about post WCup fitness, he needs as rest. (So does Cesc, but I don't see that happening. Miss his older, funnier haircuts though. Digression..sorry.) But I do wonder if Henry can be fit enough to come off the bench (about as much as Baptista does) sometime before the holiday games. Maybe for 15 minutes, he can run hard, keep his game active, but not be overstressing his sciatic nerve...???..

speaking from someone whose rounded 30, much past Henry's current age and you're never fully fit again

I had a spinal disc injury when I was 21...it can be very mild and persistent (as Henry's) or extreme (as in my case). Anyway, Henry's is probably a misaligned disc that is causing irritation and inflamation of a nerve that branches from the spinal chord. The thing that confuses me is that the sciatic nerve is the nerve that runs from your lower back down each of your legs and has nothing to do with your neck. Anyway, the course of treatment is the same for both. In about %50 of cases, after courses of anti-inflamatories, muscle relaxants, and rest the inflamation will be reduced enough for the joint to realign. The key is that you not keep irritating the joint during the treatment. I am guessing that the physicians have recommended only low impact training until the treatment is finished. But since Henry feels well before each match, he naturally wants to play. Then, the next morning, he feels like crap.

Wenger is probably thinking that he'd rather play a combination of Ade/RVP/Baptista at %100 than a 75% Henry. Then he can get Henry back at %100 after Christmas.

Stupid question but what are the symptoms of Henry's injury, because yesterday he seemed fine to me when he was jumping around

Sciatica is usually just pain in the lower back. It can also cause pain and numbness in the legs. But its the kind of thing that can flare up on you from time to time and it takes a few weeks to heal.

On a personal note, can this affect the heel? I've had this pain and numbness for about a month now, and despite (some) rest it is still here.
I'll visit the Docs' tomorrow to get some idea, before I go to Florida and get charged $200 just to take my sock off!

Henry also claims he hasn't been fully fit/sharp all season.

This calendar year has been action-packed for him. The sales of Robert Pires and Ashley Cole were always going to alter his playing style; he is shouldering far too much of the goalscoring burden. In recent games, he hasn't looked all that menacing. The most infuriating thing about Arsenal at the moment is that, with all their speedy, flamboyant attacking play, they could very well match the 2003-04 vintage had the club managed to retain more members of Henry's tried and tested supporting cast.

Don't know about Sciatica & heels, but I'm thinking Plantar Fasciitis. I've had both conditions. My Sciatica was only once and short-lived. My Plantar Fasciitis has been going on for years (ever since I turned 40) and basically never goes away. One of my heels basically always feels sore.

HTH.

As for Titi, the way his form has been of late I think I'd rather see him on the bench (just in case) and see what Addy & RVP can produce as starters, in his absence.

"Northbank 74". Thanks for the help. That's how it seems to me. I HOPE it goes away!! "PLANTAR FASCIITIS?" Never heard of it. Wait a minute, didn't Mussolini suffer from that? ;)
