According to SkySports he wants Wenger to go after him. Another blue to the Arsenal? I personally would not mind it. What do you guys think? Should we take the 25 year old right winger?

Yeah, Chelsea's gonna let him go to us. Maybe they will give us Shevchenko on loan too. He's not working out for them either.

And Cech wouldn't be such a bad idea either ..

Why? He won't be playing this season. And sadly, i don't think he'll ever play again. I hope he does, because i would hate to see a top player's career to end so young, but i can't see why he would take the chance. Whatever he get from the remainder of his Chelsea contract will make him one of the richest men in the Czech Republic.

Even if we assume that Chelsea will willingly sell him to us, where would he play? He would at best be a backup for Hleb. Let's just face it, SWP is no different from Pennant; good enough for a mid-table team like Man City, not good enough for a top team like Chelsea.

Good buy if you can get him for less than 10 million. He'll give us what we need which is a bit more of a direct, run at the defender, get into the box type mentality. Too many of our players are only too willing to do the easy thing and pass it around for 90 odd minutes. Not a starter at first but play him like Walcott is being played (off the bench) and he could open up already tired defences.
He differs to someone like Pennant because he is actually very technically sound.

One reason why Wenger didn't want to buy Tevez when he was available was because he beleived it could hamper Walcott's progress .. And if we buy SWP, thats what is going to happen .. And if we give Walcott enough time to develop by giving him few games, i'm sure he'd be better than SWP in a couple of years time ..

Wright-Phillips is more effective on the right and Walcott plays on the left so there's no problem there. With time Wright-Phillips could become a regular starter and I don't think there is any doubt about Walcott. Besides I think everyone would like to see an Arsenal with a few more English players.

A SWP-Eboue Right flank? Crazy if you ask me.
Anyway this ship sailed when SWP begged to leave ManCity to get his big payday. Shame but only way he gets out of there is to do a Duff and get sent to some mid to lower half club on loan or for a fraction of what Chelski paid in order to keep him away from us, Pool, etc. I'm hoping he stays at Chelski and on their bench as a regular reminder to every player thinking of signing for them the true cost of taking the cash.

SWP has become a mediocre player, and Hleb is miles better than him. No way I would want him, unless they sell him for like 4-5m which will never happen.

Given a choice between Hleb and Wright-Phillips I'd take Wright-Phillips. Hleb is one of the most frustrating players I've watched. He has an excellent skill set but just lacks an incisive edge. He tears off with the ball and more times than not ends up losing it in the middle. He also has a horrible tendency to drift inside onto his favoured foot eliminating the width we need.
Having seen the type of player Wright-Phillips can be, for the right price, he is an excellent buy. We've all seen what happens when Walcott plays like someone on the wing should. The space he creates suits our style. If we're to be more effective we need to use that space. So many teams are only too happy to set up camp on the edge of the box and watch while we pass it back and forth.

Where would he play?
People are acutally asking that question?
Oh... I don't know, I think he could fit into our team... after all, we're playing like CRAP! Thats what squad rotation is for... He could take Ljungberg's spot.
SWP would add the width to the team that we lack. He has speed. Speed kills. It did when we had a healthy Robert Pires... a Marc Overmars... we lack that burner on the wings.
Teams that lose to Fulham, West Ham... get clobbered by Bolton every time... we need good players coming in. Our team isn't that good, that we can't find playing time for the likes of SWP.
He didn't morph into a mediocre player in a year or two... if anything, he's healthy... his body has less wear and tear on it!

I dont see SWP coming to us. He's the exact same player as Theo. No need for him. I'd rather have Arsene target Huntelaar instead.

I could see SWP coming here as a more direct replacement for Ljungberg. I have always liked SWP and was pretty pissed when Chelski threw around thier financial muscle and look at what has happened to the poor kid. Even though he is 25 i think AW could nurture him back to more what he was like at Man City and even beyond. I think there is room in the squad especially if we keep playing a 4-5-1. Right now we have Ljungberg, Hleb, Rosicky, Walcott, and RvP (more of a striker but can play on the left). Im not sure of young prospects who might get hampered if SWP came in but like i said i think he would be a great replacement for Ljungberg in the near future. Plus SWP is more of a winger where Hleb and Rosicky are more central attacking players who we are forcing to play in wider roles.

Different player, but I bet you SWP will double if not triple whatever goal tally Hleb would get. I wanted him while he was at city. He has gusto, and he just needs more playing time. Plus he's a Gooner!

hes a winger unlike hleb so id expect he would make it easier in a 451 situation or 433. when a player isnt confident nothing will happen, no matter the skill level i think. there is just a better atmosphere for players like him at arsenal.
i cant say i would turn him down, hes a good player, but at the same time walcott would probably oust him from the squad in under a year.

No chance that SWP comes here, Chelski would pay some crap team to take him before they would ever sell him to us. We only got Gallas from them because they wanted Cole, and we wouldn't sell him without getting Gallas in the deal.

Wenger won't go for him. We have too many midfielders. I wonder what will happen in the offseason. We obviously will have the choice of which strikers out on loan we want to keep. But if Charlton go down, I'd love for us to pick up Darren Bent, who was boyhood Arsenal supporter.

What do you mean if Charlton go down? ;)
