Jet's second album was much better than its first and quite enjoyable.
same can be said for the Scissor Sisters. I enjoyed both very much.
I would say, however, about 75 percent of the albums I bought this year were new to me but necessarily new to 2006.

I felt like I struck out with just about every new release I got this year.
I was underwhelmed, too. I think the best that I can come up with is Camera Obscura's Let's Get Out Of This Country.

In general, I was also disappointed by the new releases this year. Lots of half-baked albums. However, I think a bit of my displeasure was because the last two years had been so good for music. 2004 & 2005 make 2006 look bad in comparison.
