The Rivalries in the Mexican league are very intense they come from generations and generations ...But it is what makes the Mexican league strong. I will list the many Rivalries this league has ....
The rivalreys tend to have this equations University vs non University
Modern Vs Traditional
University Vs University
Traditional Vs. Traditional
Modern Vs. Modern
a Rivalry has to have one of those equations listed above

Monterrey
vs
Tigres

The 2 teams from Monterrey 1 is a unversity "Tigres" the other is just a Club Team

Pumas
vs
America

These 2 teams are from Mexico D.F. 1 is also a university and the other a Club team ..

Atlas
vs
Guadalajara

These 2 teams are from Guadalajara and they have a intense Rivalrie i think because one is from a younger generation "ATLAS" and the other is a more older traditional team "Guadalajara" one is modern and the other is traditional.

America
vs
Guadalajara

This is the Biggest Rivalry thier is the one because thier is a different view on each team... One likes tradition with Pure Mexican players..."Guadalajara" another likes the more Modern buying expensive south american players and buying mexicos biggest stars.

now i will list the other not soo known Rivalries ..

Tigres
vs
Pumas

_______
Cruz Azul
vs
America

_______
Monterrey
vs
Guadalajara

This is a useless sticky with many misleading Info provided by TOOT. for example WTF is a Modern Vs Traditional Rivalry ??? Also the University Vs University rivalry in Mexico do not exist. When Pumas faces Tecos there is no Rivalry ?!!?

Send this thread to the Bin, Its a waste of Space in the Mexico Forum. BTW i dont think Puebla has any Rivals :)

Can anyone help me with this one?

Does Univision have a contractual obligation to broadcast Mexico's away World cup qualification games?(last qualification) I thought it was the home games only.

I wanted to know about the Mexico vs Jamaica game in Jamaica and who owned that rights.

I thought Jamaica should have put that game on PPV and make a killing but I was told that it had to be on Unvision.

Anyone here with info,
Thanks in advance

during the 98-2002 era, Televisa owned the rights to the Mexican national team. But they in turn sold some games to TV Azteca. Azteca is the one who deals mostly with Telemundo, but that thier negotiations are slowly and surely coming to an end. I am assuming that Televisa sold the home game package to TV Azteca and kept the road package to themselves. Televisa and Univision have a contract til the year 2017. Televisa basically promised to give priority to Univision INC for any of thier programming. SO that is why Televisa and Telemundo dont do much business together.

The game in Kingston belonged to Televisa. Televisa in turn gave direct feed to Univision, which Univision has to pay for.

Why PPV? You would make more money in free cable. There are not a lot of Jamaicans and i doubt that every Mexican in the US was going to pay for it. Many of us have illegal satellites fom Mexico and the ones who would pay for the PPV, you can bet your ass that 6-10 people would watch per PPV order. There are just too many factors in there for not to have it PPV. You are guaranteed more money with money coming in from Burger King, Ford, Hyuandai, Sears, etc..

Also what are the plans for the next WCQ..?

Thanks rdl, I saw this peice of info in the Jamaican Football Federation constitution and wanted some clarifications

>>Television & Radio Broadcast
Article 21
(a) The JFF and its Affiliates and Clubs are the owners of the exclusive rights for broadcasting and transmission by audio-visual and sound broadcasting media, live deferred or highlights, of football events played in Jamaica, in accordance with FIFA’s Statutes and Regulations.<<

So unless the JFF sold the rights of the Jamaica vs Mexico game in Jamaica then the JFF should have the rights or CONCACAF as I was told on the reggaeboyzsc forum.

How could televisa lay claim to a game in Jamaica?

That is what I needed cleared up, also what about Direct TV? I saw the Jamaica vs Costa Rica game on Direct TV ($20) and a few Close Circuit games at various Mexican and Honduran bars.

Various to my knowlege Warner is all about T&T, yes we benefited from the third spot given to the region but I doubt Warner had us in mind when that spot was fought for.

If you note carefully the benefits that have gone to the region after world cup 98 went to Trinidad and a few other countries. Jamaica didn't benefit from the GOAL project even though we helped in putting the region on the football map.

The Center of Excellence for the caribbean is in Trinidad along with their 4 or so new facilities so hell no they haven't done a damn thing for us and I don't expect them to. We are bitter rivals

As far as preparation for 2006, whats that? Our philosophy is to do nothing until about a year or so before qualification and run to England for new players along with a few local lads.

Our JFF was recently shut down due to a lack of money. Allegations of corruption abounds and people in charge run it like its their own private company.

I am sorry to say but right now we aren't anwhere close to thinking about 2006

I feel you Shatta. I thought W@rner was helping the rest of the Caribbean teams to ensure his vote. Looks like he's just offering them Money under the table..

If you note carefully the benefits that have gone to the region after world cup 98 went to Trinidad and a few other countries.

Im not sure if this is true, but i hear that W@rner is now Trinidad wealthiest person..

Jamaica didn't benefit from the GOAL project even though we helped in putting the region on the football map.

I heard of that project. Im not sure but i believe the FMF contributed cash money for the Goal project. This was supposed to help set up fields and training camps for the Tfc nations that be needing them the most..

The Center of Excellence for the caribbean is in Trinidad along with their 4 or so new facilities so hell no they haven't done a damn thing for us and I don't expect them to. We are bitter rivals

That is a damn shame. Jahmaica is certainly the strongest of the Carribean team. They should of at least have one facility. If they did so much (98) with almost nothing, immagine what footballers Jahmaica could produce with the proper facilitys !!

As far as preparation for 2006, whats that? Our philosophy is to do nothing until about a year or so before qualification and run to England for new players along with a few local lads.

That sounds like the Mexicans with tha youth teams, LOL. The FMF is now working with the Youth players so i guess they learned their lesson.

Our JFF was recently shut down due to a lack of money. Allegations of corruption abounds and people in charge run it like its their own private company.

Yeh, i feel yah. This happens in Mexico too. But its a big Country that is football mad with much tradition so it holds its own.

I am sorry to say but right now we aren't anwhere close to thinking about 2006

One of the things i noticed about this last World Cup was how the physical athletism of the African Teams/players dominated many aspects of the Game. Many European teams even had African players that were Nationalized.

I know that Jahmaica can produce a team comparable to Senegal and Nigeria. A strong fast team, with three to four really good footballers that can dominate the ball. If the JFF concentrated on this im sure they would make more money in the long run that just pocketing whatever the TFC throws their way..

That comes from Vision Various Styles and unfortunately the people in charge don't have any.

A lot of football fans have asked me how is it that we have so many good sprinters yet our footballers are so slow. Right now we need a training center and a 10 year plan.

The administration in charge honestly thought that all they had to do after France was run to England for players and walla they would have made it to asia.

Right now a few players are moving overseas based on the work that was done in the past by the Adminstration and Simoes. However it seems only the attacking players are getting picked up

Our defense and Goalkeeping areas need to be addressed.

The Adminstration recently vowed to return to the Simoes way for the next world cup. I won't hold my breath

Jamaica right now has a LOOOOONNNNNGGG way to go I guess this is just the growing pains that all the other countries went through

It varies from team to team. Pumas, Cruz Azul, and Atlas have their youth academies or fuerzas basicas. Others have teams in the lower divisions composed of only U-21 such as Tigres UANL.

Just recently I got some new spanish speaking channel and I saw a match between Puebla and Santos Laguna (not sure on this). I know the League has two tournaments but what exactly do the winners get? Do these tournaments take away meaning from the regular season?

I'm sorry if my questions seem simple but having just gotten this channel I would like to continue watching MFL and pick up a rooting interest in some team.

What channel do you have? Univision, Galavision, Telefutura, Televisa, Telemundo, TV Azteca?

I'm not sure but I think you mean the league is broken down into two seperate seasons. It was formerly known as the Verano/Invierno seasons but was changed to what most countries use, Apertura/Clausura.
