I got curious the other day and wondered if anyone has ever named a kid after a US soccer hero? Feel free to mention any pet names too.
My dog is named Keller.

No boys yet so we're just pulling from the women's side:
Daughter's middle name is Lilly.
Cat's name is Mia (similar personality).
Hedgehog's name was Nixi (Siri Mullinix).

Our oldest son was due right after MLS Cup 2003. My wife had joked if it was a boy we were naming him either Landon (if SJ won) or DaMarcus (if Chicago won) and it is was a girl Brandi or Mia. He came a week early so just named him Alexander
My wife has ordered me, however, to make it clear that Alexander was NOT named after Alessandro Del Piero and Christian (our youngest son) was NOT named after Christian Vieri.

If I ever got a pair of pit bulls, I think calling one Muzzy and the other Izzet would be great.

I keep bettas named after goalkeepers. Currently, there's a red one named Jens and a red/white/blue one named Marcus, both crowntails. In fish heaven, there's a blue one (Carlo), a red/purple blue one (Rustu), a red/purple one (Tim), a white one (Iker), and a blue/white one (Brad).
When my third nephew was born, my in laws hadn't yet chosen a middle name, but they had a first name: Aidan. "Aidan, huh?" I said, when we went to visit at the hospital. "Let's see," and I began offering suitable middle names. "Bradley, Matthew, Joseph, Timothy..." I got as far as Kasey before my husband interrupted and yelled "you NERD!"

Kasey(Keller) Graham or Casey(Keller but we could also say Casey Noguiera, UMWNT player) Graham will be born in early June. Either way he or she will probably be born during the Gold Cup. Don't know if i will be allowed to go to foxboro on june 12th if child is not born yet.
