Oo. Free kick for Bolton goes around a little, a shot gets deflected for a corner.
Lots of pressure from Bolton now, but nothing comes of it. About a minute before the half.

Halftime, 1-0. Bolton didn't put any real pressure on Reading until the end.

HT Reading 1 - 0 Bolton
Doyle
cross in by Oster, too high for Seol, but Doyle behind him by the far posts heads it in.

I hope we continue the pressure in the 2nd half...if we sit back on the defensive, I think Bolton puts a goal or two on us. We should be up 2 or 3 to nothing after the first 40 minutes.

I am impressed. Especially with Oster who looked very ordinary against Fulham. I hope we keep attacking if Bolton are content to sit back in the 2nd half. This feels like that type of game where we may let in a late goal that would lose us a couple points if we don't get a second.

Agree with both of you, would like to see another Reading goal because I can see Bolton putting in a goal from a set piece or something.

i agree, Oster is playing much better today. Think he is getting used to his postion now. Hes had a good 1st half, lets hope he continues to have a good game in the 2nd half.
also agree about Reading should not go on defence mode. But Coppell can always bring on Lita for Hunt, Lita goes up top, Seol drops back to the wing, retaining the offensive strategy.

Doyle is now tied at the top of the Premiership goalscoring charts with Drogba and Kanu. All three have 8 goals in league play.

Great pbp. I'm trying to take in the local culture while on the road (though, to be honest, I haven't been home in a month, so I don't really know if it counts as the road anymore) and am watching fehrerbache-Gala, muted, while listening to this game. The Reading game is much more exciting, even on the radio.
Course, this is me talking...
Doyle. pds 78k. Deal of the decade. Those with historical knowledge beyond the past 15 years, is he the best buy i n the club's history?
Still, maybe a sign that we could use a new striker or two, because it's going to be tough to fend off all the bids that will come in for him. What's his value by summer, pds 10m? More?
If we can hold on in this one, I'm officially thinking about CL next year. well, maybe euro vase.;)
Oster sounds great, and Sids sounds solid.
Type of game we could use convey's quality on the left (nice match for oster).

Thats a game I've never seen that I'd like to. I've always wanted to see if its as crazy as it seems to sound.
The second half has begun.

end to end stuff in the beginning of second half
Seol thru pass into the boxfor hunt, Hunt crosses, Oster punts it high over the bar,
then
a scramble atthe other end Nolan shoots just wide ofthe far left post.

Ugh. Bolton put on a lot of pressure on a throw, Nolan's shot just misses. Then Anelka gets a bit of a chance. Well, at least they haven't scored yet. But I'm getting very nervous.

Shorey's shot goes just over after a lot of physical play from Reading gets the ball back multiple times. Brilliant hustle.
