I just bought an old Sega Genesis 1 on ebay for about 25$ with a dozen or so games. It came with a power cord which doesn't fit. I need to figure out what else i need to buy for it to work. I was thinking a new AC adapter, and Sega GENESIS 1 AV TV or the RF switch.

Thanks

I would suggest two things:

1. Go to a local gamestop type store and ask them. the geeks there will know (I'm not sure what they're called in your part of the country, but out here gamestop is a video game store, they also sell old systems and stuff).
2. post this in the video games forum (which is a subforum of this forum).

best of luck.

Completely random segway.

Does anyone else think that Nintendo, and even Sega ought to reproduce their old machines (controls and all) with some newer technology and re release them to the public in a retro anniversary-type campaign? I know for one I would buy the old Nintendo along with the gun and about two dozen of my favorite games.

I'd like that, but the newest systems (Wii, PS3) allow games to be bought online and played on the new system. While we're on this subject, I will say that the new "Wiimote" (Wii's controller) looks a bit like the NES controller.

About 10 years ago, I remember seeing either a re-issue NES or re-issue SNES with curved edges.

Back to the original poster, a used video game store can send you in the right direction of anything you may need.

I would definitely buy it.

E-mail Nintendo now!

I'm pretty sure that's Super Nintendo.

Realistically, they could probably build a replica of the original shell and put all the original games on a hard drive inside so that would relieve the need for cartridges. They could even make the gun and controller shells the same, but make them wireless (not necessary, but an interesting upgrade).

I swear, I know tons of people who would shell out for such a system, myself included.

Nintendo already does, it's called the Wii. You can download a shitload of old school games from Nintendo onto the Wii.

They won't release a re-release because it will take away from the Wii's features.

I think I remember seeing the NES re-issue from the above post. Like I said, it was 10 years ago at the earliest.

These re-issued machines don't include all the differently colored Nintendo 64's. I remember a yellow one to follow the theme of Donkey Kong 64, as well as several others.

Of course, by that point everyone already had a black N64, so there really was no point to buy a yellow N64 with banana-colored controllers.

I could live with one of those SNES's above. Why they didn't add 2 more controller ports is a mind-boggling question. I still think one of the best things Nintendo ever released was the 64.

It is not the games themselves, but the entire experience. I want to go Duck Hunting with a gray and orange plastic pistol. :D
