i dont think that they are in trouble, what makes you think that they are in trouble? they ran as an 8 to 10 team league for a long time. no worries. is the montreal impact feeder franchise in that list?

With the teams they have now they would last 2-4 years before they run in to cash issues.Right now as it is there a bit low in terms of cash but will be fine for a couple years. This league lives of the expanson fees $200,000 per team with no new teams now or in the near future they may have to revamp.

every team i am sure is in cash issues, but there are ways around it. ticket revenues are not going to do it, as at roma in st. catharines they might get a couple of hundred out to a game. i am quite sure that each team does a number of fundraisers every year in order to make the payments.

it isnt like the players make a lot of money either, perhaps $150.00 a game at the most, maybe $75.00 if you just sit on the bench as a sub. most of the fees would deal with field maintenance costs, uniforms, registration fees. advertising in game programs, clinics, signage, on the side of the fields always works as well.

csl soccer quality may not be what you want, but hey, it is only semi-pro and from the games i watched it isnt all that bad. i think that the csl will be fine, but hey that is just my opinion.

The Serbian White Eagles and Toronto Croatia are not "in trouble" the only issue with them is if they can play in another league. No other league is big enough or wants the running bickering between the fans.

But neither of these teams are "in trouble". Nobody is making Bill Gates-style money in the CSL but most teams are either financed by some guy who is ethnic with a wad of dough and does it for community reasons or is operated like canadatoworldcup indicates, a small community group that has fund raisers, bar nights at the legion or dinners at some Italian/Portuguese hall.

But nobody is "in trouble".

While teams are not in it to make money they don't want to lose money and for most they are in the red.Alot of people really do not know how much money goes in to running these teams and how much is lost. While bar nights etc are good they do not raise nearly the amount of cash they need.I have been in touch with a couple teams the italy shooters and the selects both said they see no reason while they won't be back next year. How ever they both said they need to get some major sponcers the selects lost 40 grand last year while the shooters lost 30 grand. The teams them selfs are in good shape for the most part its the league that is a mess right now.Alot of times fans were given the shaft last year games moved at the last minute etc. There was going to be expanson but that has hit a snag.

Hamilton
The group that wanted to bring a team back to hamilton would have to pay the city 85 grand as that is what the former owner left in depit with the city.He did not pay for most of the field rental time etc.The city refuses to rent out to this group untill the the dept is paid off.To add the city will not rent to any group that wants to use this field for semi-pro-pro sports and till the dept is paid off.

Ottawa
There was a group trying to bring a team to ottawa. The field they wanted to rent was keith harris stadium. However the fury have a deal where no other semi-pro team can use this field.

I thought the C(P)SL wants amateur status? Or is it no new player can sign a 'semi-pro' contract as of this year?

Jayme - I agree, no team can run at a loss for years on end.

But my point is still the same, The Serbian White Eagles and Toronto Croatia are not "in trouble" as people earlier were saying, actually guessing would be a better word than saying.
