View Full Version : La Liga Soccer Bars
Real Madrid rocks!

Hey guys,
Hopefully we can all help each other on this. I'm very disappointed :( that the match between Valencia and Real Madrid wasn't on GolTV not even on a delayed broadcast. The only way you could watch it was if you had WorldHD Sport, on Dish Network.
I wish I had it but I'm not a home owner so I can't pick the cable provider I want. I have to go with either Cox or Comcast. So this week I've been calling many of the soccer bars from SoccerBars.com but none was going to have the game. I was going to go to Nevada's Smith in Manhattan but Sunday morning I had a last minute problem and I couldn't make it (it's about 3 hours and a half from my place to Nevada's Smith).
Anyway, what I'm suggesting is that we all make a list of La Liga Soccer Bars anywhere where la Liga fans happen to be. I was in New Jersey since 2001 but unfortunately I've now moved to Rhode Island and no place in Boston carried the game.
Thanks to all and hopefully we can make a nice list nationwide.

Make your own bar at home. In '7' EASY Steps
Disclaimer:
- If you are below the age of drinking or don't drink, kindly avoid Step 1.
- If you have no friends skip Steps 1-3.
- If you don't have a plasma panel, skip Steps 5-6.
- If you have no friends, can't drink and don't have good internet speed then find a bar IMMEDIATELY.
Step 1: Buy beer (if drunk/cheap: 2/11's, norm: Budweiser, luxury: Corona)
Step 2: Buy snacks (chips, wings, whatever you're into)
Step 3: Invite friends (women are good for halftime, so don't forget them!)
Step 4: Get game streaming information off internet a start stream 5-10 minutes before game starts.
Step 5: Hook your laptop/desktop CPU to the back of your TV and go the PC input.
Step 6: Hook your laptop to your sound system.
Step 7: Enjoy and hopefully.... you might catch a girl and win the game.

How was your birthday? Hope it went well, plus Raul scoring had to help it out a bit ;)

It is important to note that many, if not most bars/pubs that show soccer in the U.S. show only British soccer and Champions League games. They at least focus on them.
In D.C. two places that definitely show La Liga are:
Lucky Bar
90 Minute Cafe

Thanks guys, I'll try the streaming websites then. Do I have to install complex software for that? I still find it very annoying that all those "soccer bars" are mostly "EPL bars". Don't get me wrong, I watch quite a few matches from the EPL. What bothers me is the fact that here in the US, pretty much exclusive attention is given to the EPL at those soccer bars. As if La Liga or Il Calcio were not as good. Hey, after watching Ronaldinho score that great goal against Villarreal on Saturday, you realize that despite being slower paced than the EPL La Liga is based more on skill.
Before my move to Rhode Island I would go to bars in Philly or Newark, NJ or Nevada's Smith to watch La Liga. Anybody knows of a La Liga-friendly bar in Boston? Thanks a lot.

It was great! So many good games to watch that day ManU-Chelski , Valencia and Madrid... And yes the Raul goal was what I wanted for my B-day: 3 points:D
Thanks for asking:)

Newark, NJ!! That is where I grew up. Great little soccer town.
The Ironbound section was great for watching soccer - tons of Spanish and Portuguese bars (still a bunch there, but a lot of the Spanish and Portuguese people have moved out of that neighborhood). The Ironbound section had three official fan clubs: one for Real Madrid, one for Barcelona, and one for Deportivo. The founding members of the Real Madrid fan club still watch games together and travel 2-3 times a year to the Bernabeu (they just went to the clasico).

Where in the Ironbound do the Real Madrid fans congregate?

To go and hang out with them? :)
Love Valencia but of the big 2, like Madrid more.

The fan club was headquartered at a place called Fernandes Steak House (yes, Fernandes with an 's' not a 'z'). A lot of the guys from that fan club still hang out there. Other places include: Spanish Sangria (not as many b/c little space), Galicia 82, Centro Orensano and Club Espana. Fernandes is by far the best.
Disclaimer: You have to understand that this place no longer draws hundreds of people on weekends. With more and more people having access to Gol TV and the like, very few people go to these places anymore.
