And the other group is weak in comparison.
Holland
Portugal
Israel
Belgium.
Well, we know what two teams to expect in the semis!

Tough group but our team has beaten the likes of Germany, Switzerland and Holland latley, so I'm sure we can make it through if we play well.

I dont expect much from England here unless Walcott has a great tournament.

The draw is a bit grim but they've been playing well. I have faith.

England have a great chance provided that;
a) key players arent called up by the senior side
b) Taylor remains in the job.
The U21's had a great chance at the Euros during Taylor's last stint until Platt came in to derail any chance of glory.
I rememebr watching the England v Italy match and there were two stand out players on the pitch - a certain Pirlo for Italy and David Dunn for England. If only the latter could have stayed fit for more than a week at a time he would be some player...
Ferdinand, Huddlestone and Walcott all have the quality to make the step up to eventually become influential players for the national team IMO. Taylor, Baines, Reo Coker and Routledge all look perfectly at home at U21's level. If they are all playing, Id say Engalnd have a great chance
The only thing they seem to lack is a centre forward...Rooney?

bent? agbonlahor? ishmael miller? ashley young? luke moore?
etc etc
futures bright, or so it seems
we always have a golden generation of u21s and most of them never make it as big as they could

I'm a bit confused as I thought this was a tourney coming to Canada next summer (Fifa). But that is under -20 not under-21.
How can both run at the same time?
Would I be correct to say that U-21 is the "A" team and under 20 is the "B" team.? I realize England were not one of 6 Euro sides to qualify for WC under 20 but what if they had ? How would that work? Any thoughts?
I guess this may be off-forum but who to watch for in the world of U-20,
Ha ahha sorry for all the newbie questions.
Thanks

The U-21 is more important, certainly in Europe it's the link in to the senior side.
U-20 is for people not good enough for U-21. Never been an age group taken too seriously, I think because in the past the fixtures and tournaments usually clashed with the club season.

If it's a genuinely strong squad then we will do well, even in a tough group. Although I would be concerned about the number of soft goals they concede.
Winning away at Switzerland and Germany were very impressive results, they were both good teams at this level.
