I fully expect Josh Wagenaar will be the starter for Canada at the 2007 Gold Cup. Everybody thinks it will be Sutton or Statamopolous but it will be Wagenaar. One of Sutton or Statamopolous will be the backup but Wagenaar will be the starter.

Canada has had only 2 goalies to choose from-Sutton and Statamopolous since Onstad retired from MNT action and they decided to permenently ban Hirschfeld from the MNT. This is the first time in a couple years they had a 3rd goalie to choose from. I think they will give him opportunity to gain experience at an event like this since he is the youngest and has the least MNT experience up until now.

I am going to leave this open but watch it carefully. Repeated spamming or attacking of the now seemingly discredited "permanent ban" theory will result in closure. That Cuddles thinks it exists and everyone who doesn't agree is naive and clueless is well documented and it needs no repeating. Equally, pretty much everyone else has indicated that they do not agree with Cuddles. Lets leave it at that.

The notion of when or if we start grooming a newcomer as keeper for 2010 qualifying is an interesting one.

I just think for somebody so young he is progressing very quickly. Looking at his club history and now where he is he is moving up quickly for somebody so young. Also considering he was coming off an injury his performance vs Hungary was very impressive.
