This seems like a really weird question but why do some managers (at least those I've seen in EPL games) wear jackets with their initals on them? When did this practice start? I'm just really curious about this.

It seems to be an English thing, in Italy most managers wear suits, and the ones that do wear track suits don't have their initials on it.

I saw it in a US college pointy-ball game. Probably got started when a manager took his jacket off and someone else accidentally picked it up.

I'm sure I've seen Steve Nicol with his initials on his jacket at some point but mostly notice it in the EPL

It really is probably something like this... I'm pretty sure I've seen players training at some point with the same sort of thing can't remember who it was but it was some player on sky sports giving an interview and his tracksuit had his initials on it (i might be remembering wrong though) and I know I've seen them in the EPL with warm-ups that have their jersey numbers in the same spot I bet it's so the laundry people at the club know what locker to put the tracksuits, warmups etc.. in when they finish the wash
