Fanstatic looking changes:

We shall form a youth league of Bigsoccer teams - so let it be written - so let it be done.

wow, this outstanding a real boost for the game imo...
I had become pretty bored with HT but this is a nice wrinkle and certainly better than the frustrating/costly YP lottery..

Any chance for a summary of the changes for those of us that can't access HT at work? Sounds exciting!
Thanks

I like this change, it seems like you can go either way, you can do the new system and hire scouts and all that, but you can also go the other way and stick with the old system. At least that's what I got from reading it, which is a good thing for those that may not want the complexity of the system.

Basically these are the "4 Foundations" as HT-Tjecken said in the editorial
1. It should still contain some kind of lottery as it's hard to beat the excitement of a lottery after all.
2. It should offer more depth and challenges than today's system, and create a stronger bond with your youth players.
3. How youth players develop and how good they can be should be less predictable than today
4. A possibility to play youth matches whenever you want. This to enable an ingame tournament/series among friends, colleagues, etc.
Basically you'll be able to hire scouts now who will bring you a 15-16 that you can approve to join your team, you can't see all at once though, and once you pass on one you can't go back to that player. Those scouts can be told what specific types of players to look for as well.
You also have to "float" the players around in your youth games to see where the player fits best on the field and will train better.
Those are some of the high points.

Sweet. I was hoping folks around here would be into that.
I like the changes, although considering how much time I spend on hattrick I almost wish they wouldn't make it more challenging and intersting!

I'm excited. I'll no longer be resigned to an automatic "Pull - Fire" every weekend. Gives me a reason to keep working on things.
I wonder if this will be a precursor for a "new" training system with the senior squad??!!

I'm really curious how it will be implemented. Hopefully it brings more
strategic options without more annoying administrative tasks like
scheduling friendlies and setting their lineups in time. Already now
it's difficult to go on vacation without losing too much. But the old
system had to go, so that's positive.
And yes, a BS youth league would be great.

Is anyone going to stop contributing to their YS for this season?

have considered it - but actually have a couple of decent prospects training in my current program.
Bet the new system will be based off the current one. if you contribute 20k weekly, and have your youth squad at excelletn, you'll be able to hire the maximum number of scouts in the new system.
As a result, i don't think i'll change my weekly contribution.
i too am interested in a BS youth league...

That'd be my guess as well, the better your youth system, the more scouts you have to recruit.
I'd be interested, but I've actually already committed to a league with the KC Metro Fed. Kinda funny considering it's a season away. :)

Still haven't read much about it yet, but the change itself is good news from my perspective. I am not a fan of the lottery system, especially rewarding new teams for doing nothing while veteran teams have to work without that bigtime money making pull.[/bitterness]

I guess this means a new triad will have to be organized to handle the YS tourney. :p

well considering I'm the only member of the trinity active in the posting of the BS Cup. :)
But yes, the YS league would need to be run by someone else. :) I'll continue to run the BS Cup Competition though.

It's funny, I was just about to give up on my YS next season, but I may stay aboard now... we'll see.

It will just be frozen in case one decides to switch back. Therefore, if you plan to switch anyway, you can as well stop funding your YS right now.

I'm not sure if I will switch my YS style, but the BS youth league is a strong reason to switch.

not to mention, being 16 weeks away, they could still modify how the transition takes place.

Bingo. This is so far away that theres bound to be many changes in the way they set this up. This game just got a whole lot better... twice the games and fun for us die hards, having a farm team is going to be awesome.

I believe it was posted in the thread on global, which I really ought to go through at some point so I can do a proper workup on the wiki.
