Hey, why don't I post this in the right place.
Ahem. Take two.
Just like for the Olympics, it's the semifinals that actually matter. The winners tomorrow get to go to the World Cup. The championship game is simply for a piece of hardware. Good thing that's the game I'll miss, then. The losers actually have to stay in town for a third place game, if you can believe it. I've said numerous times what I think about third place games, but for crying out loud.
Canada against Jamaica, US against Mexico. Canada and the United States SHOULD be red-hot favorites. Mexico will beat the US one day, and I know absolutely jill about the Jamaican team, so don't take my word as gospel. Oh, you weren't going to? Fine, then.
See, jill. Instead of jack. Because it's women. I'm amusing.

Well…third place gets a playoff series w/ Japan to get a spot in the WWC so it might be considered more important than the Final.
Count me in for attending Wednesday night, staying home Sunday.

Men's qualifying campaign: What, about 20 months?
Women's: Two hours.

man the blog quality has dipped of late. i think dan loney might be suffering fatigue from the grueling blog schedule.
i hope FIFA never does away with the third place game. in a sport with as many teams.. saying "1 winner 200 losers" is kind of silly.
granted... for the women, its less relevant. as there are fewer teams. but even so... they should have a third place game. and the winner should get a cookie.

wait a minute....
dan didn't know that the third place winner in the women's gold cup still gets a shot at the world cup?
and he's blogging about it?
actually, lack of knowledge has never stopped a blogger before. like he said, he knows jill about it.

No problem with the blog and with regard to the third place game it is pretty pointless especially if it ends up determining awards like the golden boot and things like that.

Not to hijack the thread or anything, but I hope the USMNT announces a head coach before the end of this tournament.

You're too close to the project Dan. We your loyal readers are an unforgiving lot.
Personally I think the quality of blog posts would go up if we got rid of single entity. Allowing BigSoccer to hire more foreign bloggers would raise the quality of blogging on the site.
