Very sad. I'll remember him as the man who had the balls to stand up to Hollywood (I loved "The Player").

I'll remember him as a one-of-a-kind director, and arguably the best of his generation.
I've got Nashville saved on my TiVo. Prolly gonna watch that tonight.

That's a shame. Really good director, although he had his fair share of stinkers (Prarie Home Companion??). I think Gosford Park was his last good film.
