DON'T ROOIN HIM MAC
Warnock's warning on Wayne
By David Anderson
NEIL WARNOCK has warned Steve McClaren to stop messing Wayne Rooney around - and build the England team around The King.

McClaren tinkered with 3-5-2 and 4-3-3 formations for the past two internationals, something Warnock fears blunts the striker's threat.

The Sheffield United boss believes England must use Manchester United's king of rock 'n' goal where he is at his brilliant best - as a deep-lying forward.

After seeing Rooney grab two goals playing from that position to shatter his brave Blades at Bramall Lane, Warnock said: "He's the king in my eyes and what two great finishes they were.

"He's a world-class striker. That's why England and Steve McClaren have to play him in his best position - and hope everything stays OK with him.

"I can't see a problem if he plays him in behind a front man. I think that's the best position for him.

"There are all these other formations, but if you play Rooney there you are going to score. Worry about the rest when you have to pick the team. Build a team around him."

mcClaren has minimal football intelligence so any advice will just fly over his head.

But on this occasion it's very sound advice. Eriksson never learnt the lesson will Mclaren?.

Its idiotic statements like this that give the players delusions of grandeur - sure Rooney has promise, but he still has it all to prove.

It was frustrating to see the way he was carrying on at the ref agaisnt Chelsea, will he EVER learn?

Foreign refs wouldnt admire or respect his outbursts as unbridled passion of youth, they ll him book for actin like a spoilt little street urchin and treat him with the disdain his petulant behaviour deserves.

Its time to expect more from Rooney - enough of this patting him on the back and declaring him as Royalty for scoring 2 goals at the hallowed turf of Bramall Lane, such performances should be commonplace for a player of his talent.

He has to to start performing in the Champions League, and more importantly for England, to really be considered top class and to prove that he is more than simply a flat-track bully.
