Karen gave Jim a little "back scratch" as they were walking back into the building after checking out the flat tires. It seemed like an act recently-started-dating people might do as opposed to just coworkers.
I didn't notice that, but you're spot-on with the meaning of something like that.

I think Andy and Dwight might team up to take on Jim down the line....of course the partnership won't last long as Jim will probably play the two off each other....
The show's writing just allows for so much creativity and variation I think.
Also, I heard Ricky Gervais is set to direct an upcoming episode.

Apropos of very little, but I noticed NBC is promoting Thursday night prime time lineup as being laugh track free, which I think is great. But it's kinda weird considering that not long ago, Must See TV was basically four traditional six-camera sitcoms with laugh tracks, followed by E.R.

Good point.
I also noticed that this may be the strongest Thursday lineup ever for NBC, even beating out the Cosby Show, Family Ties, Cheers, Night Court, Hill St. Blues lineup and the Mad About You, Wings, Seinfeld, Fraiser, L.A. Law lienup

I think I'd be good at choosing the one to die.

Last night's episode really was truly brilliant. I love the British show, and admit that I was dubious about how good an American version could be before it started, but AFAIC, NBC has outdone the Beeb.
Also, it's my understanding that Gervais has written the next episode, not directed it, and that Harold Ramis (writer and/or producer and/or director of Animal House, Stripes, Caddyshack, Ghostbusters, Groundhog Day, Analyze This, Analyze That, Back To School, and a whole slew of other stuff) will direct the Christmas special for The Office.
I can't wait!

At one time, NBC had, from 9pm-11pm, Cheers, Seinfeld, and LA Law.
8-9 could have been test patterns, THAT was their strongest ever Thursday night.

The deflated tires and the "hate note" Micheal received. ... :D
While most of the weird habits and behaviors were performed by the regular Scranton employees observed by the newcomers, the one newcomer weird behavior moment came from the lady openly pumping milk.
I've never seen that done in an office. Is it common for that to be done in even a few offices?

Honestly, I wouldn't go that far. At least not yet.
But potentially, the current NBC Thursday night lineup will rank right up there, if not higher - and all in HD, something the previous classic NBC Thursday night lineups never had.

I just got around to watching the last episode and Andy Bernard is my new favorite character on The Office :)
I'm also surprised nobody has mentioned the funniest(and saddest) line of the episode:
Michael: "They are like a bunch of 4th graders. Sometimes what brings the kids together is hating the lunch lady. Although that'll change because by the end of the 4th grade the lunch lady was the person I hung out with the most." :D :(

Most offices (by law, I believe) have lacation rooms for this purpose. I haven't worked in many offices but doing it at your desk would be very bizarre in the offices I worked in.

I knew the new African-American guy was familiar! He played Elaine's co-worker at J.Peterman's in Seinfeld. My wife said he's also the grapes in the Fruit of the Loom commercials.

I seriously doubt there is any such law.
