What is the timeline for Kitson's return now that he's training with the first team again? If it is relatively soonish, and we do get Johnson, could we loan him out? Or maybe loan Long out?

he didnt see the ball much at the WC06.

so someone who knows the score, give us general breakdown on the guy, like how is his current form at the MSL, when was his best period, whats he gonna bring to Reading.

oh yeah i would be also interested to know how much he is gonna cost. any ball park figures?

Seeing that it's Reading and not some big soccer/football club, more likely less than what Benfica offered for him couple seasons ago.

The big question is rather MLS will allow Johnson to go if Reading offers him a contract.

In a heartbeat. The longer he stays and sulks in MLS, the fewer clubs will express and interest in him. Given his performance this season and his recent suspension, MLS should be grateful any club has shown an interest in him.

They really want to loan out long, find him a spot where he'd start every week. They've talked about that a couple times. Also, this week, theynoted that it's not fair to expect him to play week in, week out, at a prem level, this early in his career.

I'd agree. I think he will be very good for us in the future, but he's just not quite ready..he is only 19, after all. Would love to see him get consistent playing time in the Championship or something. I know Cardiff, who is top of the table, have some injury problems and went after Smith from United but Smith wouldn't go. Maybe they'd be interested in Long?

people also tend to forget that I think he only made one senior appearence for Cork. The game v Arsenal was only his third start in a league game in his whole career - the other for Reading being in the strange match at the end of last season, when Coppell dropped most of the players and gave the fringe players a go.

Johnson's 23, not 19, btw.

As far as what to expect, I'd say he has more skill than Convey, but more of an ego, too. When he's fit and in the right frame of mind he can do some things.

In WC Qualification he scored something like 7 goals in 7 games. Of course that's against the likes of Honduras, Guatemala, etc. I think he's been among the top scorers in MLS only a couple of times, but that's also due to missing time for injuries, national team call-ups and youth NT call-ups.

He is one of the best, if not the best USA player in the world when he is in form. He scored a hat-trick in his first game when he came on as a sub in like the 60th minute. In the final round of WCQ that is amazing.

He was talking about Long, who is 19.
I think everyone who has watched EJ agrees with the idea that "when fit and in the right frame of mind..."
But I only saw a couple Wizards games this season, and he didn't look good.

Think the American Anelka and you've got a pretty good idea. Decent skills, but his mentality is a problem.

Seen him in person 4 times now, all with the US National team. He's fast, his first touch isn't great, but he's decent. His speed alone opens up a lot.

this guy is a basket case! His lack of maturity will be detrimental to Reading. They would of been better of with signing Carlos Ruiz (fc dallas) who plays in the MLS and has a better Strike Rate, work ethic, Expierence at the INTL' and club level' and he has scored 74 goals and 4 seasons and 14 in playoff competition. This guy is itching for Premier Ship soccer

while on the other hand

Eddie Johnson has been slacking, only 7 goals in 2 seasons( 5 in 2005 and 2 in 2006) and has only accumalated 26 goals in 5 season career

here is his Stats since going pro in 2001

or you can sign this guy who plays in the same league

I think it was his 3rd goal that night.. It was a square ball pass from the wing on the ground into the box that had both his and McBride's name on it for a certain goal.. He just blew by McBride and tapped it in while McBride laid there with his leg stretched out for the ball that wasn't there so McBride just applauded the goal from that position on the ground..:)

Just to keep us up to date on everyone we're signing, according to the rumors: EJ, freddie eastwood, upson, the egyptian guy whose name i forget, fae, killgallon, mensah. Am I forgetting anyone?

It's just possible that all of these might not happen.;)

Don't forget Clint Dempsey!

Although I have not heard this rumor posted but I would like to see them make a run at Gooch. He turned down an offer to go to Boro this Summer and instead, wanted to see how things were at the January transfer window before making a decision. The folks at Standard Liege have said publically that they would like the $$$ so it is up to Gooch to decided. Personally, I would much rather see Sonko (they need to resign Sonks!!!) and Gooch in the middle and allow Murty and Shorey more freedom to attack on the outside.

I guess I could see them taking a look at Gooch if we're unable to get either Kilgallon or Mensah. I certainly wouldn't mind him coming, but I don't see it as likely. And he's not really necessary if we do get Mensah.

leave it in the FLA hood, where it came from, don't blame KC (or Dallas) had it way before this year...

Thought the latest was Dempsey is going to Charleton? (and Gooch?)
