Way before my time but always very highly revered when talking to the older generation of football fan. RIP, a sad day.
A short clip of him doing what he did best.

This man was Amazing. He had a sensational record, scoring 83 goals in 84 international matches for Hungary and also 159 goals in 179 matches for Real Madrid.

I saw this link also that Puskas died at 79. I never saw him play other than the old tapes but he was a good one. I remember reading all of his stories about him DiStefano & Gento. I saw yesterday how Hungary is now struggling in their EURO Qualifying group and thought they need another Puskas, now I read he died. I'm sure the soccer world will mourn his death.

Pls read this excellent profile. It's an excellent introduction to the world of Puskas. We've had many, many detailed discussions about him on other boards and he is easily a top 10 player of all-time, arguably top 5 even.
The most exacting left foot in the history of the game.
RIP
:(
It seems a lot of the true greats are reaching their time now. Fachetti and Puskas in the same year.

Way before my time but the stats speak for themselves as well as the legendary stories. He had a fabulous career with Hungary and Real Madrid.
RIP to the legend that was Ferenc Puskas.

Reading about him, I always knew I had missed something truly special.
I'm still terribly saddened he and his Hungarian brothers didn't win the World Cup in '54. Great for the rejuvenation of a broken Germany, but I always thought a crime for the justice of the sport and history.
May he RIP.
