Just wondering who on this board makes their money making things beautiful/ functional/ innovative. So its time for all of you architects, dancers, actors, craftsmen, designers, photographers, students, art historians, etc. to step up.

I own an architectural consulting company with a focus in lighting, sport and entertainment design. We also do quite a bit of architectural graphic and presentational work for major players in the game. My major client is one of the most innovative and exciting firms out in the world today.

Husband of an architect.

All of the opinions...none of the stress.

I did studio art in college with concentrations in graphic design and photography.

Sadly enough, my work has been grossly limited to playing the role of a paginating/copy editor at the local daily paper for far too long.

I'm hoping to do something more along the lines of marketing in the future. I'm really burned out not having been able to really create over the past 7 years, but I don't want to completely toss my background out the window, either.

Howdy

I am a graphic artist and currently work as a Junior Art Director at a design agency in Canada. I am also interested in photography, typography, motion graphics and architecture although I know nothing about it. I simply enjoy it and find it very inspirational.

I created that tornado using charcoal dust, a mouth-blown glass bell, and a pottery wheel! Beat that, ya artsy bastards!

I'll be the boards Australian architect!! ;)

I'm coming up to ten years at my firm.

Question for all the other architects in here- I was pretty much in the minority in my degree, as I liked sports!! I was the first and only sports co-ordinator in the faculty for my first three years - until I got too busy to do it anymore!! I remember in my first year, I struggled to get together a soccer team for inter-faculty sports. Yep- I struggled to get a team of 11 (no subs!) out of 500 people!!!

Is it much different around the world???

Currently building a PFI Secondary School in Gateshead. Scheduled to finish 13th April but quite far behind.

I am an attorney by trade but have recently gotten back into acting (BFA undregrad). Have found some work through my agent but haven't been back at it for very long and as you might imagine not much work in C'bus proper. I have been getting familiar with Cleve, Cinci, and Pittsburg lately searching down audition locations.

I'm an urban planner/architect wannabe. I never went to school for either, regrettably. I will discuss housing with anyone anywhere, whether the subject is housing design (like southern architecture, ie: Charleston SC) or neighborhood or urban planning. My sister works for a company called Baltimore Development which, among other things, tries to bring businesses into areas that are in need of revitilization. We talk about things like that all the time.

I am currently reading The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs. It's a little outdated but still relevant. I have read several other similar books purely for pleasure and my wife thinks I am wacky.
