He is good, but certainly not my Captain.

He cannot defend set pieces or handle any cross of any description? ie long throw ins? for as captain he does not demand and if he does not di that then why not give it to Hargreaves or Gerrard abit of class rather than a fake!

over rated imo

poor on the ball, too clumsy

great in the air and a danger when he goes forward but i dont think he should be captain

Ledley King is better.

The sad thing is, as much as I love Gerrard, neither he or Terry has really shown any sort of automatic selection.

I have to say, of all the people playing for England, only Lennon, Joe Cole, and Ashley Cole should have automatic places in the side. Even A. Cole could lose his spot to Wayne Bridge.

No one should be automatic besides those 2.5.

unless you play on any of his teams, then you are correct, he is not YOUR captain.

as to the poster who said Terry is not good on set pieces, you should watch a bit more football and spend less time in the chat rooms.

Mod Edit:

There is absolutely no proof of the internet based allegations made against Terry. To allow you to post such accusations could leave yourself and BigSoccer open to legal action.

what outburst? Even Suprs PR denied the claims. What are you rambling on? And the players play for the country, not the captain.

Bit sharp, i feel he needs to command we concede alot of our england goals from set pieces and i look to the captain to sort it out and he has not, proof being the goal against holland, maybe robinson to blame but its captains respobibility to bollock him and did he, no!

he and lampard seem to be able at club level but have never really done it for me in a england shirt. Lamps was the worst player @ thw world cup.

Actually he did, straight after the goal.
In fact I'd go as far as saying that's what prompted Robinson to fly out and deal with a cross or what ever straight after the goal in an almost identical situation.

Fair play. he does play with the british mentality but he needs to send it through the team even with injuries, its important, they are a great group of players beckham put his gay style through the team im yet to see terry's thats what is upsetting me, we have changed manger and captain but its still wrong, because i think there is not enough saud on the pitch.

the manager sucks, that's the problem. A good manager would do ten times better with the squad England has.

Unless you just landed from planet Mars, then you would know that Terry is class, and that this question is a no-brainer..

For starters:

2002 qualifiers - Drew with Finland and Greece. Lost to Germany
2000 Qualifiers - Drew with Bulgaria (twice), Poland and Sweden. Lost to Sweden

Sven's qualifying groups were a piece of piss. This one is virtually a group of death.

Oh and we lost to NI, drew with Austria and drew with Macedonia with Beckham in the team.

If you really think Beckham is the reason for our 'bad' form then your logical assessment of the situation is poor at best.

Very True.

Who were are main competitors last time: Poland, Austria and Wales. Compare that to Croatia, Russia and Israel. With the team playing like they are, it's not going to be easy.

Back on topic. Terry's done well when captaining Chelsea. There's no reason he can't captain England. However if the management keep fecking around, it just makes his job all the more difficult.
