Rumors tell Hertha have signed Brazilian international Mineiro, a 31 year old defensive midfielder. From all I'm told he'd be an improvement compared to Dardai, who started the season well but has been average overall. The age worries me though. Selling a 22 year old talent for pocket change just to by a player closing in on retirement doesn't look like a particularly bright move to me.

I reckon that Hoeness wants to have more experience at the club. Mineiro gives us some extra class and also some extra bite to the starting XI. He's not a stereotypical Brazilian like Marcelinho, he is a good destroyer. The age might be a problem, but TBH, I think this is a good move. I do believe he was also captain at Sao Paolo as well.
All I see in the thread though is negativity (esp. against Hoeness). Hopefully, he won't be an expensive transfer.

Nope. There are no issues at all. That's why our unerring management sells the 22-year-old 1.97m "collossus" just to get another 1.70m 30+ player.
A coach realizing the importance of set-plays in today's football wouldn't hurt either, obviously. But then again I'm just "negative".

If any BL team lost its 2 best center defenders, they'd be in deep shit too.
Lets concentrate on the fact that we do have a Class Defensive Midfielder who will add many more options to our attack and to our defense. He is quite a pitbull I hear for Sao Paolo, who did win the World Club Championship a couple years ago. Guess who scored the winning goal? :D
I'm going to believe that yesterday was an aberration (much like how Hertha beat Hannover 4:0 was an aberration) and go on. We do need help on set pieces, I believe, but I think after tomorrow, hopefully Goetz will address that.

Sorry Mr. Mineiro, this wasn't an attempt to diss you. I'm sure you'll do just fine, in fact I did recommend buying someone to improve this very position, since Dardai has been average at best.
What I do however not understand is Dieter's general policy. Salihociv and Samba. You just don't sell them, not for pocket change anyway.
