It was rumoured that Milan wanted Gonzalo Higuain, but it has now been confirmed.. They have been added to the list of several teams, including Real Madrid and Chelsea, who have publicly announced that they were hoping to incorporate the 18 year old as soon as possible.
********ing Real Madrid.. Everytime River has a new star, they never forget to appear (they also want to take Belluschi).

If Real Madrid want both Belluschi and Higuain, I say we sell them for $30 million euros. That ought to get us out of the hole that Aguiliar and his buddies put us in. I know some of you will think this is crazy and outrageous, but remember, we still have Augusto Fernandez and Falcao as players who could step in and play both positions.

I forgot to mention that Inter and Barcelona also want him.. Real Madrid has already asked for his price tag..

Higuain too cheap? or 10 mill is just market value for a kid that has won nothing and is not capped yet for the nats (under 17 or U20)

Gracias efe por abrir un nuevo thread.. I'm glad the last one was so successful (the 3rd most visited ever in the Argentine forums).

I think that is a good price.. $10,000,000 euros is like what, $15,000,000 dollars? Maybe we could squeeze a little more juice out of the orange, since this is Real Madrid, and money is nothing to them, but if not I would be fine with those dollar bills going arriving at the Monumental? Why? Well, here's what I wrote about Gonzalo in another thread:
I truly don't see Higuain staying in Real Madrid and being successful for too long. If he plays like he did against Boca, then yes, he would be amazing.. But I don't see him shine in River to often and I think he is somewhat overrated.. Sometimes he can't play too well vs. teams like Belgrano or Colon, for example, which makes me doubt if he can play well vs. teams like Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, or Villarreal, just to name a few.
He sort of reminds me of Maxi Lopez.. He was a good player at River, but not AMAZING, and obviously wasn't ready to play for a European giant. Barcelona took him, and look what happened. I think Higuain could be a good player in Europe, but for a smaller team.. Atleast for now.
I would like him to stay and play the Libertadores, but if he doesn't I'm not going to make a huge deal about it either. I only pray that Aguilar & Co. use the money to bring in some good players in return. If we sell for that much money, and we don't bring shit, then ******** that.. He better stay.

If we do sell him and he leaves in January for Real Madrid, will his brother(Federico) return to us from his stint with Nueva Chicago?? Everyone keeps talking about how good Gonzalo is or how good he can be, but Federico has impressed me just as much. Look at what he's done at a small club like Nueva Chicago. If it weren't for him and Pellerano they'd probably be stuck at the bottom with Quilmes. Just my .02.

I agree Federico has had a couple of really good season at Chicago now the question would be if he can adjust to River. As to Higuain leaving I guess it is inevitable but I would ofcourse like to have him around for the Libertadores. I hope that Falcao is not our only bet for next year, I am doubting whether he'll ever be the same again. Now River already sold a percentage of his pass so out the 10 mill we would only get a portion. We should have held off and waited a few more months. :(

I think Fede might be able to cut it at River, but if not, you're all forgetting Juan Antonio rather quickly.

Looks like River rejected the offer from RM :)
They didnt like neither the price offered nor the time (january) when he would leave the club. Also the picture taken with RM's shirt (see above posts) didn't fall well with the directors.

If you guys were Aguilar, and only had the option to bring in one player, in what position would it be? Keep in mind that under this case, only one could come, but none would leave..
I would probably pick a foward.. Farias has his non-scoring moments, Ortega is very irregular, and Falcao still hasn't returned to his best form. I miss one of those "scary" fowards, who scores every game (Cavenaghi, Crespo, Figueroa, etc.)
Other than that, I would probably go for a left-midfielder (I hate Zapata :D ) or a playmaker (like Montenegro, with Belluschi back in his original position).

Just to make it clear my first priority is to keep everyone on the team. Once that's done I agree and think that a forward would be a the first choice, depending on the cost I would love to have Cavenaghi back or take a look al Roly Zarate, he is not happy with his situation in Mexico so River would a great way out for him.
Another position that River has been lacking for the last decade or so has been a good "3", Dominguez and Mareque are not quite cutting it and Zapata can't play it. I liked el Malevo Ferreyra but I don't know what his contract is like with San Lorenzo and they don't tend to sell to the local market.
Other than that I am looking forward to seeing more of our younger guys like Bounanoutte (spelling?) and company, Pasarella is known for bringing up young players and with the Libertadores, Clausura and what is left of this seaon (I am giving the tournament up as a loss) he'll have the chance to play some of them.

Just found out Ahumada is hurt and will be out for the rest of the season:

:(
So... Maybe we need a legit back up for next year, although I do like Domingo as a 5 but a bit unexperience. (Sosa can not play and Lima/Mendez are not "5s")

If any of these European clubs that are interested in "Pipita" come up with a better offer, like maybe between $12-15 milliion, I say we sell him, and bring back Cavenaghi. Roly Zarate is a good call as well. I wouldn't mind seeing him wear a River jersey. Heck, maybe we can bring in both of them with the money from the Higuain sale.

I don't thinks so. I love Domingo and thinks he really deserves more opportunities.. And I think people always exagerrate about the "needs more experience".. The only way to gain experience is be getting minutes, and everytime a youngster is about to get them, people claim they need more experience..
Oh, and Nico's game vs. Boca shows that River's jersey isn't too heavy for him.. If you can play tremendously well in a Superclasico, you can definitely be a starter in an average River game.. ;)

Very good points and I agree that Domingo is a good player with a great future but what happens if Domingo and Ahumada get hurt or simply physically exhausted having to play all the games? Have you seen Mendez/Lima trying to play as a 5? They are terrible and Sosa is even worse.
Hopefully, Ahumada will return next year and him and Domingo will inter change games without any problems or injuries. But with our scheme the 5 position is very important and the team tends to play like crap when we lack a solid middle.
Also, I read in Ole that Pasarella wants to go after Juan Manuel Torres from Racing. Others possibilities are: Cristian Villagra (Central) as Mid, Caceres or Romero (Lanus) for CB, Castro (Nacional) or Marco Ruben (Central) as forwards.
