Now that ZZ is retired, who will take the reigns of becoming one of the best players at ZZ's position? ZZ was a one of a kind, a player of his ability is hard to match. Ronaldinho is one of those players but who else? Who else will become the NEXT big thing to happen in football? David Beckham was one of them but he is getting old. His stature, as player and person, is unmatched, he was sex symbol, a player with a gift. so these players had special abilities on the ball (ZZ, Beckham) and current ones (Ronaldihno) but who will become the NEXT big thing to hit football and the world?
Will it be the young stars (Adu, Walcott)? Who will become the NEXT big thing? Could Beckham come over to America (MLS) and revive his career by being in American films, commercials, and playing amazingly on the field? Who knows?....

There are several players who have already taken over the reins from ZZ and have been doing so for at least a decade.

Marcelo, the new 18 years old Real Madrid's player, will absoloutly be the next big thing of the world-class defenders.

I like Rooney, Fabregas, and Robinho and a few others. But of the whole batch of great young players out there, I would place the biggest bet on Messi. I think he will be the biggest superstar in the game in a few years.

In general Messi, Fabregas, Rooney, Kaka.
But the guy asked "who will take the reigns of becoming one of the best players at ZZ's position?"
In that case I'd also like to mention Matias Fernandez from Chile who's been recently signed by Villarreal. I don't know if he'll become one of the best in that position but he has great potential.
