...ok, so i did but you did not have any ties to any university at all i guess...i mean, how do you come to the above statement after one response of your encuesta?...

...if you came to this conclusion, then you must be the best poll taker ever...enjoy your team's defeat today against las mariposas...

4 views and not one had responded. Not that many gatitos around here anyway.

I have ties to 3 universities in Mexico...Poli (my dad's alma mater), and 2 universities I attended briefly (IEST and ITESM).

but... i am just wondering how many gatito fans have ties to the university

...yes, not very many gatitios...they usually show up if the team is doing good or gets a positive result...maybe you could say they are not very loyal, but amierdica fans aren't very loyal either...

...btw, your encuesta sucks...

...what do you think about amierdica and its fans so far in this season?...i remember people like brailowsky talking trash about us, so were is amierdica now? ...are you guys satisfied with this season?...

I kept an eye on the pumas and america section after we lost 2-0... lots more traffic in pumas, and, blimey.... in pumas we were talking about..... THE MATCH!!!! not the shirts, etc... or how much better we are really, (despite the fact we will finish higher than you).......

I did not attend, but my work place has lots of close links with UNAM.... I presume you must have worked as a tea-boy at Televisa?

My uncle graduated from UNAM and he got me into the team. I'm hoping to briefly study there if I ever get the chance.

I have absolutely no affiliation with the university whatsoever. I became a Pumas fan because I loved watching Sanchez and Cabinho harvest bushels of goals when I was a young chavalito. The puma on the shirt was just icing on the cake.

It's what got me into the team.

Well my old dentist went to UNAM does that count? :)

For me it was more about how i liked how certain players played like Campos and Ramirez Perales than anything else. I didn't know anything about the history.

Though I think rooting for a professional soccer team with ties to a university is somewhat different than rooting for an American college one never went to. I maybe wrong, but I don't think UNAM alumni care all that much if non-UNAM alumnis support the soccer team the way American college team fans bust the balls of non-alumni because they think they're crashing their 'party'.

I certainly have never found anything other than a big welcome from all fans.... never have had static about being non-UNAM, non-Mexican, nothing, often people in the stands will ask us where we are from, how long we've been going etc... but always very pleased that we think of ourselves as Pumas....

my cousins graduated from UNAM and they showed me around campus trying to convince me to go there and stuff, and I thought about it but ended up staying in the US.

Which campus?

main campus in Mty. I took some workshops there and was only there for about 2-3 months. However, I did attend IEST fulltime and had all of the courses with the exception of one transferred over to my Alma Mater. I had more fun at the IEST than I did at ITESM. The wool at IEST was top notch. Just to give you an idea, for 3 straight years in a row, a chick from IEST had won Nuestra Belleza Tamaulipas. Funny thing was, they were not even the hottest chicks in the school. I should have stayed longer :(.

loyal fans?

the team went in the red before Hugomania. Fans (or a lack ther of) had something to do with that. Fans not showing up, not buying merchandise equals corporate sponsors not giving much money which then equals hardship.

i am no UNAM fan.
