and you wonder why Princess Reyes is in Spain right now.
Reyes was in London (where I am, right now). Manchester a culinary black hole may be, but London is not.
Unless, of course, you don't like curry or vindaloo, and would rather spend less than pds 75 on dinner, before alc.

I remember lunches when I was a kid in southern france (after being a kid in england) as something odd, the class walked to a local restaurant (changed on a weekly basis), had a series of courses, a decent wine, some smelly cheese. And I remember yearning for the old stale cake and warm custard days.

I guess if you've just come over from blighty, though, the notion of eating as cheaply as you do at a red lobster would be quite fun. And, you'd probably see it as quintessential American fare (if you didn't know better).

One'd think that one could find a decent eatery that way to at least break the monotony.

And, of course, one can cook himself - get a raw steak and a George Foreman Grill and you're 50% there.

And if his teammates can find fare interesting enough to keep them out until 5 a.m., he should be able to find something interesting. though, to be fare, he may have different tastes than rooney...

I wonder if when Rooney is 40 himself, he'll go for someone in her 60's.

I know. It's an unhealthy sort of wondering. Still ...

Why do you think he'll wait until he's 40?

Do you really eat that much curry? I like it okay - but I probably eat it at most once or twice a year. I need to try the English Curry House down the street from me.

You aren't helping us show our culinary superiority over the pie eaters.

I really hate "player ratings". To me, you're only as good as your last game or last play. But I would never claim that Roy relegated Tim to the bench. They were both horrific during that spell. They were both busy relegating themselves to the bench, whilst motivating the club to look for a stable goalkeeper.
Why not? When Carroll replaced Howard after his confidence went south what proportion of games did each player spend between the sticks? Carroll was clearly underpar for a team with Uniteds ambitions but it's equally clear he was preferred to Howard on the basis of who started the majority of games.

don't try the Vindaloo unless you know what you're doing. I went to an Indian restraunt in London as a warning they had "for people with a high constitution". Of course I ate it :D

FWIW - Timy himself basically admits he deserves what he got.

Arrived monday, will leave tomorrow. curry last night, curry tonight, probably curry for lunch tomorrow (I'm using curry as a generic, I had different meals yesterday and today, but both at curry houses). but that's in london, where the curry houses, are IMO, the best in europe.

I meant the actim ratings and other silly statistics. When you try and label one goalkeeper better than the other, based solely on statistics, then you're not looking at the whole, team picture.

I think you're right in the assumption that Ferguson felt he had a better chance for the team to win with Carroll playing (illustrated in the number of games he was chosen to play over Howard). I'm only saying that they were both rubbish. When one is sucking bad, the coach has no choice but to play the other.

Another argument can be made that Ferguson didn't play Howard only to protect Howard's confidence, because he still saw it a possibility for Howard to have a future at the club. All other things being equal, it doesn't hurt to destroy a goalkeeper's confidence if you know he'll be playing for the opposition in matter of weeks. I'm not saying that I believe this to be the case, just that it's a possibility.

Until Howard does this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SV_Q_itonZs) then he doesn't even come close to the best keeper in the league which is clearly Given.
