So this is what English fan think about Tim Howard.

So this is what a few English fans said to a US Howard fan while waiting outside a Red Lobster restaurant in the middle of NY City.

My question is why would these English fans choose to eat at a Red Lobster in NYC.

Well they do think Tim Howard is the best keeper England has seen for 20 years, so judgement may not be their strong point.

And yet you quote something that an English person would not say........

well, I wrote "an interpretation" of what they said. It was not necessary a perfect traslation. I hope you get the point now.

Not just the best keeper, but the best thing in England for 20 years.......

Because the line at the Hell's Kitchen (sorry Clinton) free dental clinic was unseasonably long.

I can't see Howard at #4 over a whole season. I also don't see Marcus as being demonstrably better than Howard in any comps I can think of.

The thing about beating an inconsistent rap - you don't do it in half a season, it's kind of, well, not long enough to be consistent.

But Everton sure can't complain either.

"the best thing in England for the past 20 year" Really... I thought that was the cannabis bouquet which was given to the queen...

However, from a nation which had Seamen in net for so long, you could understand why the opinion of English soccer fans might not be the most respected view in this situation...

Which is ridiculous. this summer's Big Brother is tough to beat.
Maybe second best thing...

So let's see, a group of english on holiday in NYC, eating at red lobster, talking excitedly about an American keeper...Were they drinking a bit?

Come on guys, every knows that Red Lobster would qualify as fine dining in the land of Porridge and Kippers. Besides, where else can you go to "eat all the shrimp in existence". (The UKers won't know that I plagiarized this quote (or attempted to anyway).)

How can you tell me Howard, who regularly rid the pine is in the top 5 of the EPL? That's ludicrous.

What does he have, 1 game verse Arsenal and everyone goes on about how great he is? Or are you going to tell me he's good because he has a low goals allowed average in a very low scoring defensive league...

If he were not American you would not be thinking about the guy right now.

you sir are either a troll or were born yesterday...likely both.

Tim Howard has ALREADY been voted EPL's Top Keeper once...as a Euro rookie! Like any athlete making the kind of quantum leap he did, he suffered spells of inconsistency. Still it took a global Top 3 keeper to keep him on the bench last year...

His low GAA this year is significant, b/c Everton's D, while competent, isn't striking fear in the hearts of mid-table teams. Howard's keeping form is...

For those of you wondering how that last post relates to the EPL...

If you can't even qualify as one of the top 3 American keepers, how can you qualify for a discussion of best in the EPL?

Clearly Keller, Freidel, Hahnemann, and I would also put Reis up there, are all better than Howard.

Not to mention you all passed over such keepers as Neimi, Sorenson, Schwarzer, and Ian Walker (who I think is the most udnerated keeper in england).

How can you tell me Howard, who regularly rid the pine is in the top 5 of the EPL? That's ludicrous.

Did he really just say that Matt Reis is better than Tim Howard? I hope he was not being serious.

He had half a season of outstanding form and then started making fundamental errors for the rest of his stay at United up till his loan to Everton, thats more than just a spell of inconsistency. Glad to see he's getting back to his best in a new environment.

Still it took a global Top 3 keeper to keep him on the bench last year...

Not quite, it took a Top 3 keeper (your ranking, not mine - top 10 yes) to force the exit of Roy Carroll who previously had relegated Howard to the bench due to his lack of confidence

SENLIS, France (AFP) - Manchester United's French defender Patrice Evra has painted a grim picture of life in England - catastrophic food, awful weather, macho football - but he wouldn't swop it for the world....

"The food is truly catastrophic, and it rains all the time. For my wife and my kids it's not easy."

Darn ... not a good restaurant even in Manchester?

He's not even the best American keeper in the Prem.

I have to say the people listing Lehman at #1 make me laugh. He's having a good run of form, but he's definitely NOT the best. I'm not even sure I'd put him in the top 5 based on proven ability (as opposed to current form.)

He's had a good run of form....

for like the past 2 years now :D not enough for you? :p

I'd say Lescott is becoming one of the best young defenders is in the Premiership has more to do than Howard there. I'm just glad Howard is here instead of having the unslightly thought of Richard Wright in the pipes

I really hate "player ratings". To me, you're only as good as your last game or last play. But I would never claim that Roy relegated Tim to the bench. They were both horrific during that spell. They were both busy relegating themselves to the bench, whilst motivating the club to look for a stable goalkeeper.

One point ahead of Hahnemann.
