So Wise has already let Sean Gregan go out on loan until January and now he has told Paul Butler he is free to go as well. I like the fact that Dennis Wise isn't afraid to make a bold move, but this is depleting all depth in the back line. Killa hasn't shown much this season and Matt Heath couldn't even win a spot in Cardiff's starting lineup.

Now there is news of Wise trying to bring back Alan Smith? I certainly hope he knows what he's doing.

There's certainly not much left of the starting backline from last season. Frankly, I can't really see how Leeds defensively can get much worse, so I think it's worth a gamble. However, Wise has to spend some money over the winter break for more defensive talent.

Smithy back at Elland Road would be interesting. However, I can't really see it happening. There is too much history there.

I'm not so sure Smith wouldn't be so bad. Certainly there will be people who are still upset with him. I've read on other boards people saying that if Smith really loves Leeds he would come back. So if he rejected a deal to Cardiff and accepted a deal to Leeds, then brought Leeds back to respectability, he could begin to repair his reputation. No guarantee it would work out that way, but I could see it being billed like that if it goes down.

I'm starting to warm up to Smudge coming back, but I'd still be somewhat resentful if he did. If it did work out, wouldn't it be a loan deal, which in essence means that we're just helping the scum bring him back up to match fitness? At any rate, we need a new back line, because our boys this year just aren't cutting it.

I hadn't heard of him trying to get Alan Smith back. Hmm... the only thing I'm wondering, is what's in it for Smith? I mean, why would he want to?

I guess that's what happens when I don't check on Leeds other than scores for a while, lol!

I think (1) the opportunity to repair his image in his hometown, (2) get match fit for Manchester United, and (3) the fact that Leeds are struggling so much will create an interesting decision for Smith. If Sir Alex insists on Smith playing in the Championship, if you were Smith, would you rather play against Leeds or for Leeds?

Got it. :)

This could be interesting, if it happens.

Not going to happen. Apparently Smith will stay at Man U.

I thiniits good he is clearing them out, o don't think they are up to it, youth is the key to play with passion, i also feel we have enough at the back, Foxe and he must of seen something in the backbenchers like rui marques,

We have a massive squad, like CM theres no room to breave. Douglas, Einarsson, derry, Nicholes, westlake,

a healthy bunch of strikers i would not be supprised if he turned it round and we where in seventh just missing playoffs.!!!!

David Thompson is the latests to reject us, good move though, we do need a right winger, dont thing moore is the answer although is a decent worker not clinical enough.
