Hi everyone!
While checking some stuff on www.soccertv.com the other day I came across this.
DirecTV and DISH Network to carry Brazilian all-soccer channel PFC Internacional
October 31, 2006
DirecTV and DISH Network will carry the new Brazilian all-soccer channel PFC Internacional starting January 2007 for the start of the Brazilian State Championship tournaments, according to a report in Multichannel News.
PFC Internacional, which will broadcast in Brazilian Portuguese over 300 live Brazilian soccer matches from 4 major state championships (Carioca, Paulista, Mineiro, Gaucho), the Copa do Brasil, and the Brazilian National Championship (1st and 2nd divisions) each season, is owned and operated by Brazilian media giant Globo.
Pricing for PFC Internacional has not been announced.

Does anyone have any more info on this?
Thanks in advance for any!

Have you tried ITVN?
http://www.itvn.com/index_setanta.html?s=3&p=4&w=101041&t=0&c=500
It allows you to get Setanta on any TV.
Here is a thread on it:

I would love to have ITVN but I'm not sure it would work. I have the money, but the internet wouldn't be able to handle it.
We have RoadRunner, but the connection is always iffy because Vonage phones and two computers that are constantly running the internet (sister spends her whole life on Myspace).

Well, in my house we have two computers that are also always on, plus they're being used quite a lot during the day plus ITVN and so far so good.

We get Globo (my female's into Brazilian soap operas  ) and if this would be like a lot of the other stuff on DISH, more than likely it would be $5/month if you have the 2nd satellite.
The first satellite gets you regular "cable" programming; the 2nd dish gets you local channels ($5/mo and hella worth it for convenience/DVR sake) and the plethora of international channels, each costing between $5-$25 (?) a month.
This is just a guess...

Don't know yet.
GolTV's 2-year deal with Globo TV Sports for Brazilian soccer in the U.S. and Canada, in English and Spanish, will expire this December.
Globo TV Sports is still trying to sell a package of about 60-80 games a year in the U.S. and Canada, in English and Spanish.
With that said, I don't believe Brazilian soccer "sells" all that well in the U.S. in either English or Spanish.
Most English-speaking viewers in the U.S. prefer the big European leagues (England and Spain being the top 2, with Italy now a very, very distant 3rd), while most Spanish-speaking viewers in the U.S. tend to focus on Mexico, Colombia, and the Central American leagues.

I have one dish(granted it's a big dish)and get locals and internationals..but yes they will probably charge a monthly fee for it.

Anybody feel the same as me that we are being short changed this season by Dish? We are paying the same subs this season for much less EPL and European soccer coverage than last season. I wrote to Charlie Ergen about it and all he said was that he hopes to get Setanta on board some day. Presumably with an increase in Monthly charges of about 12 bucks!

Not sure I follow you.
What specifically am I getting less of?
One thing I do have is World Sport, and being able to see one live La Liga game a week in HD makes up for seeing a lot of overcompressed games on GolTV and FSC.

dish isn't the one that cut back the amount of EPL shown. that was fox soccer channel. and they didn;t even really cut it back by that much. they cut 2 games a week, which were ppv, which now have been sublicensed to setanta. you make it sound like dish took away the ppv matches. no, FSI just stopped offering them. and dish doesn;t have setanta because not enough people are badgering them to get it.

Setanta has the Saturday games almost to themselves. And the Champions League games are now shared between Fox Soccer Channel and Setanta. Sky B games are now in Setantas hands as well.
We are getting a lot less than we got last season

FSC lost the 7:30 AM ET game, but gained the 10 AM ET game.
FSC lost the early Sunday game (shown delayed at 1 PM ET), but is now showing the 11 AM game live.
I'm not doubting you, but which ones did they cut?

ESPN2 (USA) has the Champions League games. FSC doesn't show UEFA CL.

I know that!
Until this season ESPN2 showed two games a week in the Champions League -one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. Now they only show the Tuesday game, having given up the one on Wednesday to Setanta.
I don't know how practical it would be but wouldn't it be great if we could get Sky programming on this side of the pond?

FSC operated (under the name of Fox Sports International or FSI) the ppv last year. those are the games that were cut. setanta now has those games.

this is still wrong. ESPN2 shows 1 game on tuesday, and 1 game on wednesday (except this week because there was a live event, they showed the game on delay). Also the ESPN networks expanded their champions league coverage even more this year by showing an extra game on 2 and a half hour delay on espn classic. not to mention all the games on ESPN Deportes. Setanta has some champions league games too, but ESPN has more than they did last year.

ESPN alone has 1 game live on Tuesdays, with another one at 5 PM ET on ESPN Classic (15 minutes after the live one ends) and 1 game live on Wednesdays with a Wednesday match delayed on ESPN Classic at 5 PM ET.
ESPN2 also has a 60-minute highlight show on Fridays following matchdays. For some odd reason, this past matchday had a half-hour highlight show on Friday AM.
This is the most ESPN has had since they had one game live on ESPN on Tuesday afternoons and one game live on ESPN2 on Wednesday afternoon (this pattern stopped 4-5 years ago, IIRC.)
