A must win for the fans. players, and roeder. i think it will be a 3-0 to the toon... the real question is if we lose must roeder go? will fat freddy sack him?

I would happily swap every win the cup this season for a win in the league the following weekend. Lose tonight, win on Saturday. Yes, I'd be happy with that.:)

Aw, and I was going to start the thread because Newcastle are 1-for-1 in Carling Cup games with threads started by me this year. :p

I think we're either going to play well and win or try far too hard and lose. This game has no effect on Roeder's fate, imo, as it would be our first Cup loss (domestic or Euro) this season.

Harper, Carr, Taylor, Ramage, Babayaro, Milner, Parker, Emre, Duff, Siberski, Rossi is the lineup.

Solano, Huntington, NZogbia, Srnicek, and Luque (I think) on the bench.

Apparently Krul (I think that's who they said) went over on his ankle in warmups and was stretchered off. I would confirm it, but Century cut away to tunes just as the game was about to start. Bastards.

EDIT: According to BBC Radio Newcastle, who also cut away before the game started, it indeed was Krul who was stretchered off.

Does anyone have a radio/TV feed that will work?

Eh...that's the other Magpies, I think.

Notts County and Wycombe.

They had an update from that game...

but unless Emre and Damien Duff play for Notts County, I'm pretty sure thats the right link...;)

Also, how about Southend 1-0 up on ManU, who have Rooney & Ronaldo in the lineup!

Ah, well, halftime will confuse like that, I suppose. :o

Though the way Newcastle have been playing of late it wouldn't be too hard to mistake them for Notts County.

Chesterfield take the lead again over Charlton. That lot's gained a rep as a Premiership club-killer. Mags (the other Mags) fall behind to Wycombe, Southend leading Man United at the break.

Duff, Rossi and Sibierski teaming up for some good linkup play but Duff slips as he gets toward a danger point for the Hornet defense.

Any reports on how Rossi is playing thus far? Was he involved in the build up to the goal?

The goal was a header off an Emre freekick. The Watford commentators are indicating the Newcastle attack has been pretty menacing.

All hands on deck in the defense for now, Watford starting to turn the screws as the Newcastle defenders sit back and let them come.

Good bit of sustained pressure in the attacking third. We win a corner and look a little dangerous, but nothing overly troubling in the end.

Great save by Harper on a free-kick on Young, when the defense let it whip through rather than do anything with it.

Emre and Babayaro (who's already on a yellow) have received their 'final warnings' from the referee, much to the chagrin of the Watford commentators.
