Not to drift too far off track, but when ESPN shows fishing I can only assume that "Competitive Sleeping" won't be far behind.

"Today's Sleep match is brought to you by Sleepcomfort, for that perfect night's sleep. From Dothan, Alabama we have Willie Freeman - he's been known to sleep solid for 16 hours straight, but can also snore "Sweet Home Alabama" in a perfect C. From Ottawa, Canada - Bruce Lee, not to be confused with the famed martial arts expert, Bruce is a capable dozer, and whistles songs from Rush, Triumph, and Bryan Adams in his sleep, now let's head to the competition!"

Watching people fish is only steps ahead of watching them sleep.

I am curious about this. Is Sky officially available in other countries in Europe? because I always think you need a U.K./Irish address to subscribe to Sky, a French address to sub to Canal Satellite, a Spanish address to sub to Via Digital, an Italian address to sub to Telepiu, etc.

Or have they allow cross-country subscription within the E.U.? How about subbing Sky not in the E.U., like in Russia?

As far as subbing Sky from Europe, I found this web-site

http://www.sky4europe.com/subscriptions.asp

looks very much like a gray market subscription to me, especially you pay by credit card for a year, and you have to pay 225 pounds for the box. On the other hand, Sky advertises on its web-site that U.K. residents can get the box dirt cheap (the IRD/dish free and 1 pound for installation).

http://www.sky.com/skycom/article/0,,90010-1078333,00.html

This is very similiar to the scenarios for American residents subbing Canadian DBS, i.e. grey market.

When Rupert Murdoch gets control of DirecTV officially, perhaps Sky News and/or Sky Sports News will be added.

If it won't happen with Murdoch controlling, then it never will.

Wouldn't adding Sky to DirecTV dillute the value of US rights to things like the EPL and FA Cup?

I think we're unlikely to see Sky channels here without having to pay out the arse for it. That would kind of screw FSW over too wouldn't it?

Why would it screw over Fox Sports World? DirecTV will be ran by Fox, and are sister companies with Sky.

Its probably a safe bet that we will NEVER see Sky Sports in its pure form over here (SS 1,2,3,extra,digital). People, you have to realize that rights to sporting events are sold to companies by country - not exclusively to one company. Murdoch owning live broadcast rights to the Premiership means flip all in America. Fox had to buy them seperately here. And Sky show so much more than just that on their broadcast channels (you think we're gonna get Sky Sports and be able to watch their PGA coverage? or test cricket? or 6 Nations?). Then you have to consider the commercials. It aint gonna happen. If anything - they might want to have some sort of American version like the BBC have done. But what would be the point of that - its essentially Fox Sports World already. Im happy just to see Sky Sports News for an hour each day.

Panic,

I guess you haven't checked out the outdoor cable channel. Hours of 'necks hunting and fishing.
