View Full Version : Avery John should be suspended for the Final, but won't.

I'm a tiny bit surprised that DC United didn't go Scarface on Avery John after his scissor-foul on Alecko Eskandarian. Dominic Mediate had his season ended for him after Ugo Ihemelu committed a very similar foul. John should have been red-carded on the spot.
"Yeah, but he got the ball first" isn't an excuse. There is no point in swinging the second leg around except to attempt to injure. I've heard nothing about it, so expect John to start in the Final. But he should be sitting in the stands with a lighter wallet, not playing in the game.

At the VERY least, he should have been shown yellow.

Guess you missed Esky's elbow to the face of Heaps this past weekend, much like MLS missed Esky's deliberate elbow to the face of Parkhurst a month or so ago.
Maybe if John wore head gear like Eskandarian he could legitimize his tackles as a way of protecting himself.
Slow indeed in "blog land."
Things are much more interesting here in reality.

Yeah, 'cause Gals fans have every reason to pick on the Revs over United...Please. It was a bad foul no matter how you look at it.
There's no need to pick on the Revolution...With attendance numbers only slightly better than New York, they're in a sad enough state.

I don't mind at all if the league reviews the tape and punishes John even though the ref didn't even give him a yellow. The Revs fans cried foul when Joseph suffered this fate against Chicago and the league responded correctly IMO (although the Fire aggressor should have been punished as well) and this case should be no different. When they hand out John's punishment, they should just acknowledge that the ref missed it but they saw it on tape. No big deal. The NBA does this all the time. The NBA refs know this and so should MLS refs and their fans.

Some people don't need a reason to pick on the Revs.
Exibit A.The last part of your post.
Please. It was a bad foul no matter how you look at it.
This foul was nowhere as egregious as some of the ones commited by your team otherwise known as the Oakland Raiders of Mls.
There's no need to pick on the Revolution.
That hasn't stopped you.

The only sad state is the one you're in right now.A loser's state.
So just get off your high horse.

What is it with Revolution fans thinking that just because a guy from the other team commits a foul that it is OK to foul them back? I would just love to hear you guys disciplining your kids. "Don't believe all that 'two wrongs don't make a right' crap you hear everyone else saying.' If someone hits you, you hit them right back."
John's tackle was at minimum a yellow card and if red had been shown it wouldn't have been the least bit surprising to me. A scissor tackle should never be allowed.
I'll be sure to let Santa know you'd like a nice set of binoculars for Christmas so that you can observe reality from a far without actually getting close to it.

To imply that other teams supporters don't do this as well is the height of hypocrisy. Now you're gonna tell me that just because they do this it's not ok for us to do it.

Hell yeah. This isn't the radio factor. And what do you tell your kids.
Please be gentle.

Yeah let's suspend John for the final.Let's minimize their chances once again like we did with Joseph for that phantom foul. But that didn't work ,did it.

It was foul deserving of a yellow card.No more,no less.

I didn't imply others don't, but in the last two weeks Revolution supporters have been shouting this at the top of their lungs. I'd come down on other fans too, even Fire fans if they claimed as much.

Even Revolution fans agreed that the Joseph elbow was a cardable foul. It was the punishment that was unjust.

John's scissor tackle was definitely yellow card worthy. People have gotten reds for the same thing before, so a crimson piece of plastic would not be unprecedented.

I've seen worse by far. That was a yellow tops....and since when does getting the ball not matter? He made clean contact with the ball BEFORE hitting the player...
He shouldn't be suspended for anything. God hates the Revs enough. Have you seen their list of injuries?

That doesn't mean you can get away with an unsporting tackle. If I leave my feet, studs up and get ball before cleaning you out, I don't get a 'get out of jail free' card. Getting ball only counts for so much.

Avery John is a thug who needs to learn some discipline and control. Didn't he get red carded for a dumba** foul in the World Cup?
