Yesterday during the Velez Sarsfield vs Estudiantes game the Argie announcers said that Chelito had been sold to Deportivo La Coruna. However, since all their non EU spots are full he will be loaned out Rosario Central in Argentina for 6 months.

I'm surprised the Mexican media didn't get on this rumor first. I think is time for Chelito to move on, he has said he wan'ts to go, and it might help Cruz Azul in a way to find alternatives to their dependence on a player like him.

sad but it i knew it was coming! He did say a couple seasons ago that he didnt want to leave until CRUZ AZUL wins a title. Hopefully he leaves with a title this year.

Maybe Real Madrid should get rid of that fat bastard and get Chelito, on the other hand; why would chelito spent 6 months with the canallas, can he wait in Cruz Azul until a spot open for him at Deportivo ?
In any case, thanks for the memories, he'll be very hard to replace.

My guess is because Rosario is his hometown team. It's the team that Cruz Azul bought him from.

In either case I knew it would come or will come :( I know he will shine on whatever team he goes to. We are holding him back from his full potential at Cruz Azul

The guy on the TYC broadcast made it sound like it was a sure thing. I guess we will know in Jan.

So far I havn't found anything either on their website or any other website. I think La Coruna have been trying to get him for a while because every now and again you hear rumors about it. I think I heard that they offered 10 million euros or something like that? I may be wrong

It was rumored earlier this season that people of Deportivo made an offer to Cruz Azul of 10 million euros for Chelito, but he would have left with the season in Mexico already in progress (like Fabricio Fuentes did). Since Cruz Azul had already sold Osorio, Kikín and lost Galindo, they weren't willing to sell another player they had in mind to be a starter, even less the franchise player and with the season already started.
I wonder if they only resurrected this old rumor, or perhaps back then Cruz Azul made a deal with Deportivo, afterall if the rumor is true not every day a team in Mexico receives a 10 million euro offer for a player.

I was watching the game yesterday when they mentioned that Chelito is very likely to sign with the Machine again, and that the deal in Spain didnt went though, due to Chelitos's "poor form"...:confused:
Not that Im complaining, I'll be happy if he finish his career with Cruz Azul, and dont want to seem malinchista, but if Bravo and el venado find work in Germany ( as mentioned in the same game, and confirmed by the birrias president) its hard to believe that Delgado wont find a willing employer in Spain or Germany.
Do you guys have any more info ?

sometimes they are right on with their info but they have also been known to get ahead of themselves and spread rumours who end up just in that.
For example not long ago they said it was almost a done deal for Suazo to go from Colo Colo to Tigres, then they said Monterrey and neither one went through.
Ive also heard on one occasion the Fox sports commentarors say that Lavolpe was considering bringing Chelito back to Argentina to play for Boca.

Well the Suazo stuff was from Fox Sports and it was about done untill Suazo killed the Argies in Copa Sud game and Colo-Colo turned down the offer.

seriously though, I think they would sell him for 6-8 million at the least. Cruz Azul doesn't usually let players go for cheap.
