according to soccer.net, United are closing in on the deal with Duff. But I read that like 2 weeks ago, what’s the latest news on this.

Damien Duff is a young Irish left sided winger who currently plays for Blackburn. He has a ton of talent with great dribbling runs and a good nose for goal. He has been linked with a move to United for much of this season, especially with Ryan Giggs not enjoying his best campaign in Manchester.

Well, Giggs is getting old and United must look forward.

Kieran Richardson may be the most possible replacement for now.

Yes. I thought that was common knowledge.

Well, Beckham apparently isn't common knowledge:

From SMH - http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/04/11/1049567854020.html

Doh! Soccer star David Beckham has been kicked into touch for a cameo role on The Simpsons - because he is not famous enough.

Creators of the show were planning to approach him to see if he would agree to be written into the hit cartoon, celebrating its 300th episode on Sky One on April 20.

But executive producer Al Jean said today that he was barely known to audiences in the United States, where the series is made.

Speaking in London today, Jean said: "We thought about Becks but soccer isn't as big over there. He's not really famous enough.

"Bend it like Beckham". I think he is easily famous enufff, but whatever the producers say is what goes.
