Well, at least he won't be injuring any of his former teammates... yet.

I feel like the action is appropriate. I don't think he meant any harm.
It was very fair of DC to post the disciplinary report. I found it quite insightful, and quite different from any report or post I'd read. On thing that stood out to me was that Hristo was back kneeling by the player's side and apologizing 46 seconds after the incident. It sounds like he stayed there and spoke Spanish to him until emergency services arrived.
I wish a speedy recovery to the AU player.

Time to move on, though.

Tough decision for the disciplinary committee to make, but it's a just decision. Too bad we'll miss out Hristo at the home opener. Best wishes to the AU player.

Aside from agreeing that we can all move on now, I saw one statement in the report which caught my attention. In the conclusions section there was mention of "... the Leagues dissent initiative in 2003 to deal with dissent by issuing a yellow card". I am all for clamping down on the carping by the players after every call, but this is something I will have to see before I believe it will be enforced.

MLS did absolutely the right thing, for once. A very fair and appropriate decision.

How long will the kid be out and how much will this tackle cost him?

Probably 4-6 months and who knows. If he fully recovers, and that maybe a big if, it shouldn't cost him anything. He won't miss a season of play. As far as the medical bills, who knows. There's insurance and the possibility that the team or Stoitchkov will pick up the tab.

I would hope that Hristo would offer to pick up a good portion of it, esp that not covered by insurance.

Is it usual for the league to provide the public such a thorough report of its analysis and findings/conclusions? I didn't expect such a detailed public report.
It seemed objective, balanced and fair. It was quite similar to numerous recent posts on "The Tackle" thread since that video clip became available, and as such, while being insightful, it didn't included anything very surprising or unexpected.

You know what I say.......Give the guy a game off and leave it at that.

Its not like our team was built around him. So two games, thats what, about a total of a half a game missed?
It won't be the only games that Hristo misses. I'm frankly suprised that he didn't injure his foot tackling the kid and miss the next four weeks of training.

Freddy llerena declined to comment. I wonder if that is because he is contemplating legal action?

Fair and reasonable punishment, IMHO.
Thanks to United staff for posting the full decision.

I found this statement interesting:
Gazidis: "Unfortunately, in the aftermath of the injury, inaccurate descriptions of the incident were publicly circulated by those who did not have the benefit of reviewing the video evidence or interviewing those involved in and around the incident. The discipline imposed upon Stoitchkov is in line with MLS discipline to players involved in comparable incidents over the years in MLS games."

Sounds like a roundhouse aimed right at BigSoccer to me.

are you trying to tell me that Bigsoccer posters arrive at conclusions without having knowledge of all the facts and evidence?

I have heard this happens on some of the other forums but not here.
