View Full Version : Rummenigge warns DFL and Matthäus

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge puts DFL under pressure again. Before DFL announces the judgement in the Kirch affair, he threatened DFL to withdraw from all jobs in the DFL.
"Clear and distinct: if a judgement comes that we cannot accept, then we are consequent and leave all jobs in the DFL. We would not even accept a point reduction if we'd already be champion. This is a matter of principles."
Simultaneously he excluded that in the future a Bayern member will do a job in the DFL executive. "We don't want that. That's a consequence from this matter."
Rummenigge also gave statements in the case Lothar Matthäus, who filed a lawsuit against his ex-club because of missing files and incorrect payments for his farewell game.
"We are fed up. Lothar now is an unwanted person here. This will be cleared in court and then the matter is over."

This is ridiculous!
Bayern just tries to fear the DFL so that they don´t punish them too hard.
You know what Bayern? We don´t need you in the Bundesliga (well.. some people may think differnt). Pi$$ off! Leave us alone! The German Championship will still be a great thing without you!
Bayern is an unwanted club!
Seriously: If the DFL doesnt have a reason to punish Bayern, they won´t do it. So why is Rummenigge talking such crap?

It's indeed ridiculous. I don't know, maybe Bayern aims on losing the positions (which shouldn't be occupied by club representatives anyway). It's not the first statement of this kind, but to the public it has the contra effect that they demand DFL to punish them now - nobody would believe that speaking them free of any guilt has nothing to do with these threats. If they don't punish, then it just shows that DFL has no balls - they would lose their whole credibility now.

The DFL should call their bluff and dock them points. Bayern are talking about leaving the Bundesliga but this is just nonnsense. Sure, they can leave if they like but there is absolutely no chance of them being accepted into the Serie A. UEFA would never allow it.

I think that the DFL is who's bullshi**ing!! I mean, so what if Bayern did this or that? The DFL does need Bayern and I am not just saying that because I'm a Bayern fan, but if they make them leave, then the Bundesliga will suck and seriously... it will suck! Imagine the Premier League without Man Utd and the Spanish League without Madrid and the Italian without Juve and so on. After a while, Dortmund will also start being hated and then everybody will hope that they quit the bundesliga. This is such BS! There should never be anybody leaving any league and it would be stupid if teams started playing in other countries, even if UEFA did accept it.

I'll quote myself from the Euro board; Klinsmann18, for you especially the last part will be interesting.
Kicker Comment on the Matter:
‘Back to normal’ is the order for the league to not continue to endanger the own brand. After weeks of discussion it is clear for everyone: culprit in the Kirch affair was FC Bayern, who now gives a very modest sacrifice of 3 M despite of having cashed 21.5 M.
The DFL leadership did a great assist for Bayern by the hacking in their press release. Bayern used it to – once again – slip into the role of the victim. Munich’s strategy to remove their officials from the functions in DFL and DFB is nothing but childish.
DFL and DFB will now reach their hands to Bayern for getting peace. Give them back their toys and hope that they grow up, admit mistakes and learn to live with criticism.
The other club representatives were mad about Bayern not coming to the league meeting, and nobody really cared about them retiring from their functions. Bochum’s President Altegoer spoke for the league: “DFL has to care for 36 clubs and not just for one. We do everything for getting a normal situation as soccer needs quiet and no negative headlines. If this is not in the interest of Bayern Munich, then we are not terrified. In the first line FC Bayern needs the league. And the league only needs Bayern if they are behaving properly.”

In a late breaking report the German Minister of information has decreed
that all DFL and Bundesliga has been castrated in an effort to collectively
have some balls.
What a crock of ***************. This is so frigging weak - where is the docking of
points? Where is the 30 Million Euro fine? "We can't offend the great Bayern
Munich, without them we would have no jobs, no league, no team, BMW would
stop making cars, our national GNP would drop into oblivion and Mr.
Beckenbauer would kick my ass". Wusses.
I am disgusted by this to no end.

Bayern Munich has joined my list of despised clubs. What unmitigated arrogance! I hope that the rest of the Bundesliga teams take a stand against Bayern and force them to back down.

They are #1 with a bullet on my list.
Bayern Munich is so far ahead of Man Utd its hard to imagine they play the same sport.

Come on. This is posturing by Bayern. They did wrong and they have the nerve to say if you punish us then we leave with our toys. Of all the unmitigated arrogance. Bayern is dispised because they are arrogant and think they are above the rules of the league. That clearly makes them a bunch of hypocrites. They need to swallow their pride and take the fine or sanctions as men and not spoilt children.

I'm a long time Bayern fan, since the early '80's from watching "Soccer Made In Germany". But now I am questioning my allegiance. The simple fact is that they have been caught with their hands in the cookie jar and are throwing a temper tantrum about it. This is an example of extreme arogance and a complete lack of integrity.
The threat of leaving for Serie A is just plain silly. Bayern assumes Serie A would have them. Why would an already strong league want an outsider and have to bump another existing club? Think of the political consequences, and think about Glasgow Celtic and Rangers trying to move to the premiership. Other than Bayern being a big money team, it makes no sense.

Well, that's Bayern in a nutshell, what do you expect ? Football is a soap opera, Bayern are a headline act and showbiz rules dictate that when the ratings wobble you pour on the shmaltz. I have yet to meet anone that actually takes the ramblings of Beckenbauer, Rummelfliege et al seriously. Bayern need the Bundesliga as much as vice versa, it's all just page-filler crap that will blow over eventually.
The (even by their own exalted standards) extreme arrogance of their recent tantrum will win them no friends, but hey, you either know something about football OR you're a Bayern fan, there's no middle ground, right ;)

You said it brother.
If there was a way for Stuttgart to catch them, I would be most happy.
