Oh yea, i've seemed to forgot about the escape clause...

Well, if I were Werder Bremen, I'd make #1,#2,#3 priority be Klose. But that is for the end of season, Werder have to take care of business right now.

i thought helmes was the best striker for the u21's?

that means better than hunt doesn't it?

i think bremen will keep klose, but either way as long as he plays well for germany...i don't care.

As for the possible Klose replacement, I think they will look for a promising German striker from smaller clubs. Schlaudraff and Helmes for example who've already been linked with them.

I agree with that assesment. A young German may be their best option. I would also suggest that another good buy may be Mladen Petric of Basel.
He posesses a goal/game ratio of roughly one per every other game and has recently impressed for Croatia.
I know he is on Basel's books untill 2008, but who knows?
Just an argument as he is a young guy who could be on the way up.

Perhaps, but regardless he is a scoring threat (just look at what he did today, fantastic goal, plus he played a lot better IMHO than Ballack did).

I think he has to become the world star that he is. He needs to show his imperious form that makes him such a special player. He has been active and dangerous, but he just hasn't scored, and I think a part of the reason why is that the scoring is spread around. But IMHO, for Werder to advance, Miro has to put in 2 world-class performances. Then he will get the recognition he deserves, but more importantly, give Werder Bremen a ticket to the round of 16.

Am I putting a lot of pressure on him? Probably. But World Class stars rise up to the occasion. I have confidence in Miro that he will do it, and I have confidence in Werder :) (even if my posts previously have been negative).

no, you are right. to beat such teams our stars must show that they are stars if not it will be very hard.

If Bremens gets the Nike-Deal I think the chances are good that Klose will stay. Huntelaar might be a good replacement. Or somebody we don't know of yet. btw: Robinho is Diegos best buddy ;)

I also watched the recorded Barca vs Chelski match today. To be realistic, Werder has to play super well to beat them. The good thing is Lampard is off.
This guy can score some freak goals. The bad thing is they are still very strong even without Lampard.

I love Barca and hate Chelsea, but I think Werder has a better chance of winning or drawing in Barcelonaa as they do of getting a result against Chelsea the way Chelsea are playing right now.

Unlike Bochum, Sofia, Bayern and Mainz, Chelsea, and Barca for that matter, won't have a problem keeping up with Werder's offense.

I don't like Chelski neither because of as you're well aware of it, the Ballack affair even though whoever got him away from Bayern from my personal perspective is the team that I would hate.

I agree Werder are capable of playing 2 to 3 notches up next at home. Nothing is impossible.

But I would not hold that optimistic observation at Camp Nou as you do. Barca could have sealed the victory yesterday and when their back is against the wall, Werder will stand a much more difficult chance to get any points out of them than Werder may against Chelski.

Yeah, their one-touch football is very entertaining to watch.

Well...as much as I dislike Chelski, I dislike Barcelona even more so I really do hope Werder can get the job done in Spain and then against Chelsea. Chelsea will beat Levski again so they'll be guaranteed first place winners. In that case, they might just play a little more careless in the last fixture against Bremen so they have a good shot at getting 3 points if only they can hold on for a draw at the Nou Camp.

Go Wonderful Werder! :D

I didnt know Werder were holding discussions with nike. i really hope they get that deal. Right now its darn near impossible to get reasonably priced Werder bremen merchandise, and in the United States, forget about it! nike teams can sell shirts for 60 bucks in the states. Ive talked with Soccer.com and they have informed me that it is very difficult to carry kappa merchandise and therefore do not carry Werder until next spring. And even then, they said it will be very limited and quite pricey.
