don't agree. It's about attacking "right". That means with the correct timing.

I don't talk about speed=running fast, but passing fast and at best without any backpasses or 'Querpässe' at all. And imo the difference between both teams was quite obvious. There was also a lack of moving without the ball in the Werder offense, whereas Barca played Werders defence dizzy in the first half.

ok, but passing accurately and fast is not always the best. It depends on the right thing for the situation. Passing accurately and slowly is sometimes the right thing needed.

But that aside, yesterday barcelona did the passing fast and accurately better, when it was needed, than werder.

There was a lack of movement in the werder offense too. I agree.

In the 2nd half werder's offense moved a little bit better and they controlled play better.

But I don't agree with what you said about werder being unable to outplay the so called "very best" teams. They did it perfectly against barca and chelsea in bremen. Especially barca in bremen.

But yesterday bremen largely didn't turn up in the first half, and that's when barca scored 2 goals and did the damage. Bremen turned up for the 2nd half better but couldnt score 2 goals.

I don't agree that premiership teams are good at anything but ping pong, apart from arsenal and chelsea.

That Messi goal was killer.

yeah, in hindsight it was huh.

no point looking anywhere but forward now though..this team will do very well in the future if it stays together

Definitely.

I remember thinking to myself after that goal, even though it was an early stage, "damn, there's no way Werder can make a miracle now". well, they almost made it in the end, it's just too bad for them. Just like against Juve last season. Cracked in the last minutes in a game, and that would go on to cost them a spot in the next round.

I don't think they cracked in the last minutes of last year's 2nd leg Juve game. Did anyone else see the Juve player trip Wiese that made him fall and drop the ball? I could have sworn I saw it but I havent seen a replay since the game so I can't tell you 100% certainly. it looked to me like the Juve player stuck his leg out and tripped Wiese as he ran out to throw the ball. I caught it the last time they showed the replay. did anyone else see that? The ref didn't see it as there was a whole bunch of people in the box. just asking if anyone else saw it. lol, first I say the 2nd Barca goal was offsides, now I talk about this goal, it makes me look like a conspiracy theorist, but I swear I saw it. does anyone have video of that goal?

had bremen two points more prior to the Chelsea game, the result probably would have been different. Just my opinion...

pakalolo : you think bremen would have lost to chelsea in that case?

that they only won this time becuase chelsea weren't commited!

I'm on dialup so I cant check the video rite now, but I remember it on TLN (telelatino) in Canada here. the view was from high and behind the net, you see Wiese running out and then when they pan forward and he is at the bottom of the screen you see a Juve player extend his leg forward, or that is what I remember, again it has been a while.

not neccessarily, but when we talk about if's and but's this should be taken into consideration.

I firmly believe Chelsea did not give 100% in that match. They played harder against Man U. on the weekend.

I agree.
I think the fact that Bremen scores dozens of goals in the Bundesliga just shows the difference in quality between the Bundesliga and the top leagues.

how come bayern scores at the same rate in the bundesliga as in the CL?

how come chelsea scores at the same rate in the EPL as in the CL

how come bremen and barcelona/chelsea had similar goalscoring numbers in the CL?

how come bremen put 4 goals past last year's italian champions in the CL last year?

how come when arsenal scored goals for fun in the EPL 2 years ago, they couldn't do anywhere near that well in the CL, and didn't even get out of their group I think. Does that mean the EPL winners who scored goals for fun and went 49 games unbeaten just proved that the EPL is a lower quality league in the same way that you said bremen just proved the bundesliga is lower quality?

my point is that it's not as simple as you said with your statement ;)
