This is really sad :( :(
Iran's desperate kidney traders
By Nima Sarvestani
Director, Kidneys for Sale
On streets and in town squares in Iran, young men and women can be seen holding signs offering their kidneys for sale.
One of them reads: "Immediate offer! Kidney for sale, young man, 22, healthy, blood type O positive. Tel 09122... "
Every year, 1,400 Iranians sell one of their kidneys to a stranger.
At the Tehran branch of the Association of Kidney Patients, one of many agencies set up to facilitate the trade, the reception is full of people.

1. You are supposed to quote snippets from the text not the whole thing. I haven't checked it in detail but the fact that you didn't take out the side quote might suggest that you copied the whole thing. This is an infringement on copyright laws I believe and against the TOS. I won't close this, but remember for future reference.
2. While this is sad, it is unfortunately a reality in the world. There is a high demand for both kidneys and liver often as well in the world for obvious reasons, however it is illegal in many countries. Hence you get the donor list with no one being able to "purchase" a kidney from someone else. In those countries, it has resulted in a very murky and dark trade with blackmail and murder becoming a regular occurence (India in particular has been getting a lot of media attention in the past on this issue). While the idea of purchasing other's kidneys would suggest double standards of living for the rich and the poor, in my personal opinion there is much credit to it. Putting aside the difficulties of blackmarket and so on, it may not be such a bad idea where the poorer party can make some money and the one that can afford it manages to live on. If this is made illegal, in the ideal scenario of no black market, you will end up with the poorer one not making any money and the richer party dying.

It’s a good idea? You don’t see anything wrong with selling body parts for money? You should ask yourself , why is the government allowing this to happen? And why are people so desperate to sell their kidneys? People are doing this because they have no jobs , no money because of the economy this government has created for the people of Iran , and the government is allowing this to happen because they are making money from it , I bet you there is a mullah in control of this market and he probably makes some money in the tradeoff , this is rather sad and disturbing to see other Iranians support this program is even more disgusting, who would thought of a day when human being sold their body parts so that they could feed themselves. And this is not the only problem in Iran right now , how many prostitutes does Iran have? More people in Iran are selling their bodies for financial reason then ever before and the ISALMIC REPUBLIC OF IRAN deserves a BIG THANK YOU for such a accomplishment .

Sadly, the bold bit might be true. :(
Just to let u know the kidney trade and in particular kidney theft was really big during the Shah. There was more kidney theft :D , but there are more people selling their kidneys now i guess. I somehow find this topic amusing. A family friend of ours had his kidney stolen. He was offered a nazri by this old lady in a cab, he became unconscious, woke up in the middle of nowhere and went to the nearest road where he was later picked up by another cab (no he didn't fall for it twice, lol). I have many kidney stories to tell if you're interested, there's a lot of this stuff in local events sections of the newspapers, a lot worse actually. Just one more, we know a lady doctor (a very good friend of ours) in Mashhad, she says some druggies come with their wife and kids who are forced to sell their kidneys to buy baba's hash. :( I'm sure she had nothing to do with this.

Pahlavis giving oil away, The Qajars giving land away, and the list goes on and on. We've been ruled by a bunch of selfish sell outs.

The Pahlavis were giving oil to the West not to the Arabs and we can thank the Pahlavis for Abu Musa, Tunb and Lesser islands which the UAE is now bitching about . I am not going to dispute the fact that Iran never had a good leader but Iranians never really sold themselves to Arabs until the mullahs came into power . The Iranian government doesn’t represent Persians , they act and look like Arabs and they are giving away Iran’s resources to Arabs . We don’t need to be fixing Lebanon and paying them any money and we don’t need to help Palestine , the government talks and cares more about Palestinians than its own citizens . And we don’t need to be supporting groups like Hezbollah and Hamas and we don’t need to be selling our girls and body parts to Arabs .

I never meant it that way, the whole akhoond arab thing. I am very much anti all of them, but definetely not anti Arab. I think it's really dumb actually.
