Per the discussion of the transmission problems in the other thread (Inter-Spartak problems), please use this thread to report any major technical problems (e.g., no commentary for the first 5 minutes of a match) or schedule changes (including schedule changes part way through a match). This will allow folks who are working but recording to re-record a later match if the first match has problems or for folks to use other means to find the match that was originally slated to air. Please don't use this thread to complain about the tickers, announcers, or general schedules; use existing threads for such discussion. Take care.

Could someone please point me to that thread? I cannot find it. Thanks.

The video of the Spartak-Inter game on Setanta Sports USA (via BSkyB) was distorted, with the players looking like fat midgets, and the edges of the video cut off so that the lower third scoreboard graphic looked like this:

ARTAK MOSKVA 0-1 INTERNATIO

I turned it off after 10 minutes, and didn't really missed much, as Inter planted 11 men behind the ball after Julio Cruz scored 60 seconds into the match.

Commentary on the Liverpool-Bordeaux match was in and out, but that's not something that will be fixed when Setanta re-runs the match since it was a stadium feed problem rather than a feed to the US problem. In the end, it wasn't that annoying since the picture quality was clear the entire game and the studio hosts would pick up the commentary. Take care.

Same distorted video problem with the Copenhagen-Man Utd match on Setanta Sports USA on Wednesday. Video aspect ratio was distorted with players looking like fat midgets.

No, Wayne Rooney is a short, fat midget. Your picture was true.

Thx,

Jay!

Man I'm glad I dropped Setanta, they seem to have no end of technical problems. I was watching something on Setanta once and the picture looked like what you guys are describing but they figured out pretty quick that they were taking a 16:9 picture and putting it on a 4:3 screen without letterboxing. They letterboxed the event about 10 minutes in. If you have a 4:3 television, try setting your DVD player on 16:9 and play a movie and you will see a similar phonomenon. Were the whole games shown messed up like that? Setanta either needs to show the games letterboxed or take a different source. Optimally, they would start an HD channel next year when DirecTV gets room for more HD and then they could show these events in HD. I'm sure that's just a pipe dream though.
