After reading the Fire fans account of the incident.. I still think our guys were stupid to do something about it, but they were provoked.

On the section 8 boards, one of their guys admitted that he was talking to a fellow Section 8 fan on their way out about "How cool it would be to go into the Fort and make it into a mosh pit and start swinging elbows". One of the Rev guys took umbrage and it went downhill from there..

again, no matter what the provocation, WE should not be the ones starting fights with other team's supporters. There is NO excuse for pushing women etcetera, no matter what happens. We're better then that. There's no need to sink to the other's levels.

I think I know who was involved on the Revs side, but I don't know for a fact and I have no idea what their side of the story is either unfortunately.

Correction: No excuse for pushing other people. Sex has nothing to do with it.

Besides, how can you tell a female fire fan from a male fire fan anyway?

Monty, Jon, and Mike will probably back me up on this (dunno about Rand), but the Italian supporters in K-town were pretty cool about it--they'd sing at you back and forth for a bit before the game (like it should be) but that was really it. Afterwards they were all just mad at each other. Italy's one of my two least favorite national teams, but that's strictly for the players; got nothin' against the fans I met in Germany.

Now, the "my grandma's hairdresser was from Trieste and so Forza Azzuri, who needs MLS/the US," well, to those guys I just think of all the cool and crazy shit (http://tifosi.hooverdam.net/) that I've gotten into as a US and MLS fan and say "yeah, but I guess if you just want to watch AC Milan on TV, that's okay too."

Bottomline: treat others as you would would like to be treated.
What has happened is over and done. There are strong opinions on all sides and unless we do a 'witch hunt' (pardon the expression) we don't know all the facts or who was involved (MR, Rev Army, or just a fan). Lets move on because dwelling on it will not help at this point. Lets hope supporters and fans do not act that way next season when out of town visitors come back to watch thier team get beaten by ours....

Guys, the nuts and bolts of this really don't matter a whole lot at this point. From the sound of things, invididuals on both sides were guilty of making poor decisions and not exercising good judgment.

Doesn't matter who was antagonizing who, or who provoked who, this shouldn't have happened, period.

Let's all move on people.

I did not have any problem with the Italian fans at any of the 3 Italy games I attended (other than their general arrogance...)... they certainly were not belligerent... and I was right in the middle of the Italian section (behind the goal) for the Italy-Ukraine game... I certainly did not hide my utter contempt for the diving-cheating b@stards in blue - and my daughter was worse than I... I was never threatened...

of course, half of the "Italians" in the section were from the east coast.... of America;)

Pareent, yes. My parent, no. My mom didn't want to drive in the rain so I ended up getting a ride with my neighbor/friend and his mom.

Alzheimers, man I never get tired of those adult jokes:cool:
