I found this over in the Business and Media forum (and the text is taken from the actual site):

Dear Internetsoccer.com Family:
We are excited to inform you that we – the US National Soccer Team Players – have purchased internetsoccer.com. For the past few years internetsoccer.com has been THE place for fans like you to get your soccer news and information from the US and around the world. We have taken over the site’s ownership and operation with the intention of keeping its content coming and continuing its tradition of providing you with the greatest quality and quantity of soccer news available.

Moving forward, internetsoccer.com will now be “housed” within our web site, www.ussoccerplayers.com. You will find all your usual internetsoccer.com news and information on both our Home Page and in our “Latest Soccer News” section. You can get there by going to www.internetsoccer.com or by going to www.ussoccerplayers.com. While you are at the site, we invite you to check out its other areas, such as our Resource Center for soccer players, coaches and parents, our Fun Zone with great downloads and games for soccer fans, our Message Boards where you can interact with other soccer enthusiasts, and, of course, our Player Information, where you can learn all about us – the players, past, present, and future, who have played for the US National Team and are the members of our organization!

You can still expect to receive your weekly internetsoccer.com (now ussoccerplayers.com) newsletter in your email inbox every week, chock full of the latest soccer news. And, we’re also starting to develop special opportunities for you to win US Soccer Players’ prizes, such as autographed items.

We hope you enjoy our new site and we look forward to hearing from you regarding how we can utilize it to best serve the US Soccer Community of participants and fans!

Yours in soccer,

Jeff Agoos Chris Armas Brian McBride Brad Friedel Kasey Keller

2002-2003 Officers of the US National Soccer Team Players

P.S. By the way, thank you for all your support during our recent participation in the 2002 FIFA World Cup in South Korea! It was a great experience for all of us, and we couldn’t have done it without you!

Now THAT is very interesting.

Internetsoccer.com was started almost as an afterthought a few years ago by a couple guys in Charlotte, NC. They eventually absorbed some writers from "Round-Not-Oval" like J Hucherson and were essentially the only show in town.

Then, almost two years ago, TeamTalk PLC in England decided to go global and, after taking a brief look at SoccerAmerica (the Berling family wanted WAY too much money) they paid an outrageous $11 million for IS.com. The founders must have thought they had died and gone to heaven.

But after hiring Oliu, Gardner, Trecker and every other known soccer columnist in America including our own Aris Whats-his-name (BuffloSoldier) they decided, after just a year, that America was a waste of money and they essentialy shut it down. They still updated it with news items fromTeamTalk USA, but otherwise it was just a holding site.

Then, about two months ago, TT decided to fold up the USA pages and canned Chris Bergin in the process.

So NOW these guys buy it up, I'm betting for next to nothing. I'll bet the two original guys, who probably are sipping margaritas in the Keys someplace, are laughing their asses off.

Yeah, I heard that they were seen at OSU recently taking some HTML classes. Apparently they're going to share the webmaster responsibilities. :)
