Out of the games available to vote for, Managerzone is the best in my opinion.

But I haven't voted for it, because it will never be the best online soccer management game that existed. SoccerSim was far better. I still play Managerzone today, but only because SoccerSim finished :(

is managerzone the one where you can buy money with real money and need to set up friendlies 3 times a week?

I started playing Managerzone about 9 months ago and I've really started to enjoy it more and more by the day.
(and just to get it out of the way -- the URL: http://www.managerzone.com )

They've constantly been making updates to MZ, and while it might be annoying every once in a while to have half a day of downtime, I'm really finding it worthwhile.
While managerzone may be "pay-to-play" ($1 to start a team), the creators of the game continually work on trimming down advantages gained by individuals who pay for the special packages in the game.
The simple fact that there are features in the game that users can purchase gives it a bad wrap, in my opinion.
The packages that you can buy give you the ability to join certain worldwide Cups and Tournaments, start friendly leagues with just your friends... etc..
The least expensive package ($1/month) allows you to watch all of your games in a new 3D Live mode that they've recently unveiled. While it's still somewhat in it's infancy... this is really going to be great once they get some kinks worked out. I like the ability to watch my team that I've built from the ground up -- actually play in a 3D simulator that I can watch and control the camera.
(all is fair in stating that I've never tried any of the other games mentioned in this thread... so they may be capable of the same thing and I don't even realize it)
-- I might as well throw in a little screenshot of what the 3D simulator looks like for those of you interested:

mmm... no, I don't think you're thinking of managerzone. You can't get ahead financially in the game by giving real money. That's exactly what the adminstrators try to prevent in the big scheme of things.

In my opinion MZ can be a little complicated... but I think that's the nature of games like this. It may have took me a while to figure it all out and read through the FAQ... I wouldn't have had it any other way. I enjoy the control over my team's finances, stadium, youth program, coaches, training, transfers etc..etc..

Well, that's my opinion on the topic...
...thought it was worth a post.

Cheers.

the only thing I hate about mz is that you need to schedule a few friendlies a week or your form suffers and ur team starts to suck.

Hattrick is no longer all about midfield. The best side in England now plays 3-4-3 and counterattacking is now playing a big part. The communites great aand really helps out the newbies. The trainig system is the best i've ever seen and hattrick rewards good tactical decisions. It's easily the best game out there.

i never really got into Hattrick, and Sunday League i played for a bit then just kind of got bored.

Trophymanager (http://www.trophymanager.com) is a great management game. it's free to use, but you can get a "Pro" account as well. the Pro account doesn't really give you any in-game advantages. it just makes things easier. the game just keeps getting better and better with new tools and features being added.

league games run three days a week (W, F, Sun.) with cup games being on Mondays and Thursdays. you can schedule friendlies those days if you are knocked out of the cup as well. friendlies are basically just for trying new formations as you get no money and players get no experience with them. this keeps from making friendlies "mandatory". you can also set up friendly leagues with friends if you have a Pro account. some Houston Dynamo fans have a league.

another cool feature is national teams which will eventually be expanded to even include U-21 national teams. every two seasons (24 weeks) nations vote and elect a national team manager. right now qualifying for the region tournaments is going on. last season was the World Cup.

i hope you all give it a shot. it really is a great game.

I've been playing this game for 2-3 seasons now and its ACE!! highly recommended.

I've played hattrick too but it's a tad too complicated so i gave up within a week. Trophymanager on the other hand is very good in it's easy to use format. It doesnt take too long to understand the game and really know how to use the tools and play.

Just started Managerzone and is looking the goods at the moment

I play footstar

You can control the career of a player down to his house and everything, its much different than other games where you control a team just of bot players.

My player #734 look me up!

I think the best online manager game is manager-mania. Better tactics, and with a board to negotiate season after season. MM RULES! http://www.manager-mania.com.

That link seems to be dead.

I just wanted to report "a new player in the field": Virtual Manager (http://www.vman.dk). They just recently launched the site in English, so the texts is a bit weird... overall worth a try I think.
