Downtown was a zoo today for the festivities. Unbelieveable.

It was awesome. So exciting to see a great Sports City come together. Anyone think that if we were to get an MLS team here that it could create the same kind of energy & excitement a few years (or decades) down the road?

I wish I could of been in St. Louis this weekend. It would be nice to see what it is like to be in a city that has won a Major League Championship. Especially, since I grew up a Cards fan.

I hope everyone went crazy like I did. I am 26 years old, and this is my first true redbird championship. Worth waiting for. I totally believe STL can bring this type of energy to the MLS. We love teams and players that play the game hard and play the game right. If a team brings that to the table, we will love them win or lose. Also, knowing that we have smart baseball fans leads me to believe we would have smart soccer fans as well. I believe we would appreciate a good switch fields like we appreciate moving the runner to third on a groundout.

What exactly is a 'smart' baseball fan? One that knows how to cheer when their team does well and not cheer (or boo) when they suck?

Did you notice the Tigers fans cheering when they won game 2? Or after a Cardinal struck out? Or moaning when their pitchers launched throws into the outfield? So did I.

I always thought the reputation of Cardinal fans being more intelligent was vastly overrated.

No offense, but fans are fans, for the most part.

You are from Chicago via Cleveland - so you wouldn't have a clue - it's not your fault - until you experience a stadium full of "smart fans" you wouldn't know. St. Louis Fans chear the sport not just thier club. They chear something as simple as hitting to the right so a man on second base can advance. They chear great plays regardless of which team made the play. The fact that you had to ask shows that you have never experienced "smart fans." And btw, fans are definitely not fans. You won't see any LA arrive in the 3rd leave in the 7th crap in St. Louis.

Overstated? Yes.

Overrated? Probably not.

Sport Billy,

Before you post about how intelligent St. Louis fans are, you might want to consult a dictionary. Cheer is the correct spelling.

ChiCleve,

It takes more than knowing when to cheer to be an intelligent fan. Heck, you can know when to cheer just by clapping when everyone else does. It's because St. Louis fans know the ins and outs of the game and all kinds of baseball history that they are deservingly called the best and most intelligent fans in baseball. That is why St. Louis is "Baseball City, USA".
