Game's live on FSC at noon ET in the States. PremPlus Sky in the UK.
BBC Preview (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/eng_prem/6072870.stm)
Rossi is almost certain to start, and he very well could be by his lonesome with Sibierski and Martins questionable, and Ameobi with the problematic hip. Emre and Butt are also question marks. It wouldn't surprise me to see a 5-man midfield with N'Zogbia and Milner slotting into the middle with Parker. Or perhaps we'll actually see Luque, who knows.
Charlton are pretty much fully healthy.
Newcastle have won just the one league match at home, and Charlton have lost all four of their away league matches thus far.
Newcastle (from): Harper, Srnicek, Taylor, Moore, Bramble, Ramage, Babayaro, Parker, Solano, Milner, Emre, N'Zogbia, Duff, Pattison, Ameobi, Martins, Rossi, Sibierski, Luque.
Charlton (from): Carson, Young, Hreidarsson, Diawara, El Karkouri, Fortune, Sankofa, Holland, Rommedahl, Faye, Hughes, Thomas, Ambrose, Pouso, Reid, Hasselbaink, M Bent, D Bent, Myhre, Andersen.

What about Carr?

I wonder if it's a mistake, because there's only 19 names.
Same list as on PremierLeague.com.
Mike Dean is the ref.
Thx,
Jay!

Horrible formation. Chalk this down as a loss.

No real surprises. Charlton were always playing for a draw, and Roeder played his sub too goddamned late for it to have any impact on the game whatsoever.
As soon as Charlton went to the 4-5-1, Roeder should have yanked Bramble and stuck on Milner to maintain the one-man advantage in the midfield.
Duff as a striker - bad idea. I could have told Roeder that. Let him play on the left where he can use his left foot all the time, his right is largely useless. If he'd have played on the left wing rather than up front, Rossi would have scored.
This team frustrates me to no end.

I'm conflicted about Duff up top. He adds a lot of energy and imagination, but it's clear that it's not his natural position as his run in front of Rossi cost us a goal.
Other than that, I'll never get those 2 hours of my life back. Good lord that was frustrating.

Why was Luque not on for the last 20? He was the only person on the bench with goal scoring ability. We shouldve taken out Butt and moved duff to wide left.
I dont understand why Moore and Bramble got the start today. I thought we have done well with Ramage and Taylor, but they were benched for no reason.
My only hope is that we were purposely going light today and saving players for the Palermo game.
I try to remain off the manager sacking bandwagon, but this is getting stupid.

Awful. Both Milner and Luque should have come on with 20- 25 minutes left. I like Duff on the wings but not up top. Well at least we didn't lose.

I'm so glad I had a game of my own and couldn't watch this. I wish I could not be a nufc supporter sometimes :(

Is it obvious we miss Owen's and Shearer's killer instinct yet?
Duff cannot and should not play in a striker's role. It's obvious he can't get out of his own way in that role, let alone his strike partner's. Duff is best suited in an advanced position on the left wing, just as Milner is suited for the right wing in an advanced position. Duff's right foot is far weaker than his left, and this game proves it. If he were even remotely as good with the right as the left, he would have scored at least twice.
Roeder played those guys properly in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 hybrid for all of six minutes. Really, he's a nice guy and I'm glad he came back from the brain tumor to continue doing what he loves, but how many more times is he going to ******** up no-brainer substitutions to the detriment of the club? He had two obvious options when Marcus Bent came off for a midfielder: put Luque on for Butt and go true 4-4-2 or put Milner on for Bramble and run a 3-6-1 to continue to pour on the pressure the same way the lads had been all game by bossing the midfield (which I personally think was the more logical of the two). He did neither and we dropped another two points at home that we had no business dropping.
It makes it all the more maddening because the moves are obvious, at least to me, and Roeder doesn't make them.

I'm curious as to what the Newcastle faithful thought of Rossi's performance.

How can you not like Rossi?
As far as the club overall, no one should be surprised at the lack of scoring punch.
This is due to the lack of planning done by the previous managers in charge, including Robson.
For those with short memories, Robson tried to get rid of Shearer prior to his initial "final" season. When that failed, there was no movement to try and bring someone else in. Then Robson gets sacked.
Then came Souey, who made no effort to bring any strikers in. And having realized his error, pleaded with Shearer to stay on for another season. Fortunately, he did.
We all know what happened from the beginning of the 04-05 campaign, a combination of injuries, bad acquisitions, and bad personnel decisions overall.
Concerning Luque, he must really have a poor attitude for Roeder to not even consider him despite the obvious need for firepower.
And some can talk all they want about Chops not being Premiership quality. The fact remained that at the end of the season, he was the second most viable option behind Owen because Ameoba was already fragile. Chops would have been out there against Charlton. Of course, Rossi might not be on Tyneside on loan had Chops stayed.
As much as I have defended Roeder based on what he has to work with, he has made a few poor decisions. The most obvious: Why is Bumble still out there? Just imagine had Bent scored when Bumble had his customary screw up... I would have not been surprised at a pitch invasion had the Toon lost to Charlton at home. As I have said, put Taylor and Ramage out there, and keep them there.
Frankly, the club shouldn't be as concerned about the away match to Palermo than it should about Sheffield United.

I saw N'zogbia take a corner late in the game. Straight to the first man as usual.
Please tell me he hasn't been doing this regularly. He's shit on corners.
Thx,
Jay!

I think that was his only corner of the match. Duff and Solano took most of them.

Best player on the pitch. He set up three scoring chances,He hit the croosbar,he held the ball giving the chance to the team to pull up,he made intelligent passes, he had few shots on Goal and one of them was blocked by Duff which deflected out otherwise it would have beeing a goal.He ran for 90 minutes. What also do you expect from a player? Duff MOM? he must have given couple tickets to the journalist .I my oppinion MOM Rossi or Butt.
